About AWEC

The Afghan Women Educational Centre (AWEC) was established in 1991 by Afghan women living as refugees in Pakistan. Since 2003 it has been based in Kabul and works for the promotion of rights, self-sufficiency and empowerment among Afghan women and children through education, health, peace-building and socio-economic development projects. AWEC currently has projects in Kabul, Paktiya, Balkh, Faryab, Wordak and Islamabad.

Job Summary

AWEC need to hire a female project manager for Herat project who have education in law or political science.

Duties and Resposibilities

1. Responsible for all over project activities for the life of project including report writing.
2. Perform a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed.
3. Create the teams, develop the objectives/goals of each and assign individual responsibilities
4. Devise the project work plans and make revisions as and when need arises
5. Periodic inspection of trainings, CSOs relationship and other effective communications within the Organization and sites work.
6. Management skills to controlling, executing and organizing planning and having strong leadership skills for the implementation of the project in effective and efficient way.
7. Increased awareness about women’s rights in the provinces of Herat
8. Advocacy campaign on women’s rights through media
9. Production and distribution of a multimedia kit on prevention of self immolation for women at risk
10. Publication and dissemination of materials on prevention of sexual and domestic violence
11. Enhanced capacity of civil society organizations and networks in monitoring women’s rights
Conventions.
12. Establishing network of CSOs in targeted provinces
13. Establishing support committees consisting of local government authorities and civil society representatives at provincial level.
14. Developing training manual on international conventions and laws related to women’s rights
15. Fair representation of women in the civil society organizations in Herat Province
16. Capacity building of civil society networks, inclusion of women and support committees on women’s rights
17. Leadership training to women support committees of local authorities and institutions
18. Awareness training to women and local communities by CSO networks on monitoring of implementation of EVAW, CEDAW and UNSCR 1325
19. Advocacy and campaign for promotion of women’s rights especially implementation of CEDAW, EVAW and UNSCR 1325
20. To enhance the capacity of ICCO’s Afghan Partners and beyond that of the Afghan women leaders and activists on learning about UNSCR1325/1820 and its application to Afghan context.
21. To mobilize the Afghan stakeholder at civil society to form an effective Working Group who take the lead in preparing and finalizing the action plan and contribute to its implementation.
22. To develop a national and international level advocacy strategy for a core group on the progress Afghan women make in this field.
23. To prepare up dated reports after the implementation of the action plan.

24. Other duties
24.1 Attend management and staff meetings as required.
24.2 Attend and participate in training identified/organized by your Organization.
24.3 Perform other duties relevant to this position as required.
24.4. Travel to Kabul, Bamyan or other province if required

Qualification

University Degree (Law, Political Science, Economics, BA or relevant)
3 to 5 years working experience in Advocacy, legal issues, Justice, Women Rights or relative field.
Excellent command of local languages and in English.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong leadership skills with project planning and staffing
Be punctual, motivated and good attitude.
Hard working, honest, Motivated, detail oriented and organized
