European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL AFGHANISTAN)
EUPOL AFGHANISTAN was launched on 17 June 2007 and it will consist of some 359 international and 206 National mission members deployed at central (KABUL), regional and provincial levels.

Job Summary

Language Officer for the EUPOL City Police and Justice Programme (CPJP) in Kunduz province. The Language Officer reports to the Head of CPJP Kunduz.

Duties and Resposibilities

Main Tasks
• Interpret English to Pashto / Dari and vice versa for EUPOL international staff members;
• Perform translations from English to Pashto / Dari and vice versa for all materials assigned e.g. training manuals, presentations, letters, reports;
• Perform administrative tasks related to EUPOL contacts with Afghan interlocutors e.g. making phone calls, drafting minutes, writing reports, scheduling meetings;
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualification

• Excellent knowledge of English and Pashto / Dari languages, both written and oral;
• Good or excellent knowledge of German is an advantage;
• A minimum of three years relevant working experience, preferably within a NGO or UN agency;
• Good computer skills (especially Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel);
• Facility to work flexible and/or additional hours if required;
• Able to work under pressure and able to complete the assigned tasks within the given time period;
• A law degree or a law/judicial background is a major advantage.
• Good knowledge of Kunduz City and surroundings and contacts with local stakeholders is an advantage.
