Job Summary

Under the Utility Branch Chief; responsible for the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant

Duties and Resposibilities

"• Operates the Wastewater Treatment Plant to the best possible standards providing uninterrupted operation.
• Monitors plant systems, ancillary equipment, and the chemical composition of the influent, effluent, and internal process streams; makes necessary adjustments to ensure operation is within established guidelines. Responds to unscheduled equipment or process failures.
• Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) and repairs in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications on all systems including pumps, valves, and piping.
• Collects and analyzes raw waste; performs chemical, biological, and physical analysis; and maintains a thorough knowledge of the composition of the influent, effluent, and internal process streams.
• Completes maintenance records; maintains laboratory and operating logbooks and databases as required.
• Maintains control of plant tools, manuals, repair parts, assemblies, and consumables. Maintains inventory accuracy at 98% or better.
• Coordinates with the Utility Branch Chief in ordering repair and/or spare parts, assemblies, or consumables.
• Maintains cleanliness of plant.
• Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace, ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualification

"Education: High school diploma or equivalent. 2 years of Wastewater Treatment Plant or related technical school is highly desirable.

Certifications and Licenses: Licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.

Experience: 1 to 4 years as a licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator required. Must be detail-oriented and have strong laboratory background. Must be computer literate in spreadsheet and word processing software and be able to create and maintain documents and spreadsheets.

Other Qualifications:
Able and willing to perform other duties as needed, as skills and program allow.
Must possess a driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
Must be able to pass a drug screen, complete physical and all background checks.
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
