About Cure International Hospital
CURE International Hospital provides in-patient and outpatient services for adult and pediatric patients. This hospital is composed of more than 300 staff members and about 110 beds in the areas of the Adult Ward, High Dependency Unit (HDU), Private/Contract Ward, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Operation Theatre (OT), Maternity Ward, Private/Contract/Specialty Out-patient Clinics, and the Family Health Center (FHC). The vision of CURE Kabul is to develop a hospital that trains the future health care workers of Afghanistan in International Hospital Standards. CURE Kabul has an emphasis on maternal-child health, plastic surgery, fistula surgery, OBGYN Fellowship Program, Surgical Fellowship Program, and Family Medicine Residency Program. The training that CURE Kabul offers to other health care facilities is expanding rapidly to all areas of Afghanistan. Education is one of the primary missions of this hospital.Job Summary
Responsible for the delivery of quality patient care, nursing assessment, and patient / family education that is within the scope of nursing practice. Maintain compliance with the Physician orders and implement nursing care according to the physician orders.Duties and Resposibilities
Main Responsibilities:1. To adhere to the values of CURE International Hospital.
2. To maintain a professional attitude and appearance consistent with national nursing practice.
3. Observe and assess patient condition and care needs continuously.
4. Takes appropriate nursing action based on the nursing assessment.
5. Follows physician orders. Notifies supervisor / physician of changes in patient condition.
6. Initiates appropriate preventative and rehabilitative nursing.
7. Provides total patient care to include, but not limited to:
a. Overall assessment of patient needs.
b. Taking and interpreting vital signs.
c. Administering medications and observing for their effect.
d. Carry out and maintain physician orders for IV therapy.
e. Administering respiratory care: oxygen therapy, oral/nasal and tracheal suctioning, and monitoring pulse oximetry.
f. Preparing and administering feedings.
g. Performing physician ordered physical therapy and positioning.
h. Overseeing or providing total personal hygiene – bath, linen change, eye care, mouth care, G-tube care.
i. Monitoring intake and output.
j. Document patient assessment and response to treatments / interventions.
k. Utilize and maintain clean or sterile technique as appropriate for i9nfection control.
8. Documents assessments, nursing actions, response and communication.
9. Reports changes in patient condition to Supervisor and / or Dr
10. Accepts responsibility for personal and professional accountability and development.
11. Provides ward supervisor with time off requests prior to the next months schedule being completed.
12. Attends and participates in education in-services as indicated.
13. Participates in orientation of new nurses upon request. Teaches other nursing personnel as requested or indicated.
14. Complies with CURE International Hospital policies and procedures. Reads and completes Nursing Protocol Handbook within the 2 month probation time. Reports education needs to Supervisor and / or Nurse Trainer.
15. Provides the patient and family with information regarding the disease process, self-care techniques, and prevention strategies.
16. Prepares detailed and informative clinical and progress notes as services are provided.
17. Health promotion and disease prevention included in discharge teaching for all patients.
Qualification
Minimum Qualifications:1. Graduation from approved Afghan National Nursing Program.
2. Two positive references from previous employers or educators.
3. Strong written and verbal English skills.
4. Current CPR certification.
5. Ability to communicate clearly and work well with others in a team environment.
6. Evidence of a negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.
Physical Requirements:
1. Physical agility.
2. Able to transfer, or reposition patients alone or with assistance.
3. Must be able to respond to emergency situations that may require physical strength, agility, and ability to function under stress circumstances.
4. Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to communicable disease or other sources of allergic response.
