To lead in the delivery of the Child Health Now (CHN) campaign at the national level, liaise, support and work closely with colleagues involved on the issue of health, nutrition, WASH, child protection and community empowerment nationally. Ensure the national Child Health Now Campaign is effectively linked to World Vision's Regional and Global campaigns.The CHN campaign aims to contribute to the achievement of a significant reduction in child and maternal mortality rates by focusing on family and community health, in line with MDGs 4, 5 and 6, particularly in the poorest and most marginalised countries globally. Maternal & Child Health (MCH) advocacy has been identified in the WV Afghanistan Strategy for 2012 - 14 as one of the main focus for the next 3 years. The CHN campaign in Afghanistan will build on the achievement and successes made in the Health programming over recent years.
Duties and Resposibilities
15 % Develop, update andimplement the national
campaign strategy Staff from advocacy, programmes, comms, child rights,
gender and marketing input into a multi-year Child Health Now strategy that follows a thorough assessment phase and is based on a clear theory of change.
The strategy is signed off by the NO's senior management after review by the regional advocacy manager and Global CHN Campaign adviser.
15 % Manage the integration of the
Child Health Now campaign
into other areas of Ministry (in
particular health, nutrition,
WASH and child protection),
seeking buy-in from colleagues All Staff in the National Office are informed about the
campaign's objectives and understand how their work
contributes to achieving them. Specialist advice / technical assistance are provided to other areas of Ministry where needed.
30% Coordinate the cost effective
implementation of the Resources in all WV Ministries at the local and national levels are pulled together to deliver Child Health Now activities
30% Respond to specific requests from
World Vision offices including Support
and Regional Office for information,
stories, photographs and video on the
CHN project and related health,
nutrition, WASH and child protection programme work.
Develop and maintain professional
contacts with key local and international
print, radio and TV media and assist
them by offering story opportunities,
arranging project visits and interviews. Stakeholders, other VVV offices and the
mass media publish, create various
communications products related to
VVVA's CHN campaign.
National media have information needs on CHN campaign met.
20% Internal Communications:
Develop resource materials and deliver training programs for National Office (NO) staff on CHN campaign
Ensure that WVA written and photographic resources are saved in the WVA Communications databases Speakers within the NO are identified,
trained and briefed to effectively
address external audiences.

Qualification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTITUDES REQUIREDBachelor's degree in journalism, public administration, public relations or related
humanitarian fields.
Excellent presentation skills
Excellent interviewing skills
Knowledge of photography and video.
Strong speaking and writing skills both in Dari/Pushtu and English
Ability to meet deadlines and be flexible to work in a dynamic work environment.
Willing to travel extensively within Afghanistan.
Additional desirable experience:
Familiarity with the work of NGO sector and commitment to well-being of children.
Familiarity with Afghanistan local media and knowledge of international media
standards
Knowledge of video, social media and web design.
At least 4 years in the journalism/media field
Experience in advocacy based campaigning
