The Generator Technician installs and maintains diesel power generators and related electrical equipment throughout the assigned area. The position reports to the Field Facilities Officer and is based in Sangin.Duties and Resposibilities
-Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of generators in the sub offices.-Install, repair and maintain new and replacement generator systems.
-Inspect regularly all generator appliances and equipment to include the immediate maintenance and repair of non-functioning items; ensure the replacement of defective parts;
-Provide cleaning schedule for necessary equipment of generator;
-Ensure the generators are serviced on schedule and that they run smoothly without fluctuations.
-Inspect, test, evaluate, calibrate and update generator systems and wiring to improve reliability and to assure dependability and safety and compliance.
-Monitor and maintain adequate fuel supply levels for generator, including scheduling and supervision of fuel deliveries.
-Keep the area around his area of work in tidy.
-Be responsible for maintenance of other vehicles and machinery associated with SRADP program
-Report any damaged or missing items to supervisor; failure to do so may result in immediate dismissal.
-Maintain records of services and fuel consumption.
-Order and stock supplies, materials and parts to replace materials consumed and assure their availability for assigned projects, scheduled maintenance, and emergency responses.
-Respond timely to requests for repair and fixing of items within the office.
-Responds to 24-hour emergency calls for assigned work area to perform emergency building or equipment repairs during off-duty hours.
-Identify and corrects building and equipment problems by performing electrical work to maintain buildings and equipment in safe condition, prevent degradation of property and systems, and prevent failures that would cause reduction in service.
-Follow safety standards in working with multiple services, tools and equipment.
Qualification
-High School degree is preferred; Technical degree or certification a plus.-A minimum of 3-5 years experience working with power generations sets.
-Experience with diesel engines, electrical switch gear, and automatic transfer switches.
