Job Summary

The ICRC is looking for a production officer capable of project managing the production of ICRC publications for various target groups, including illiterate and semi-literate audiences. In addition, the production officer should have experience of producing posters, flip charts, brochures and other communications tools. He/she should have a good knowledge of designers, suppliers and printing houses based in Kabul, and be able to manage and supervise all stages of the production process, from concept to final product. The successful candidate will also be required to oversee the production of ICRC films and other audio visual material outsourced to professional production companies.

Duties and Resposibilities

In his/her capacity as project manager, the production officer will be expected to work alongside designers and printing houses to ensure that the final product meets rigorous professional standards and is compatible with the ICRC's visual identity.
In addition, the successful candidate will have proven translation skills and be able to translate, proof read and edit texts in English, Dari and Pashto.
The successful candidate will work as part of a ten-person team involved in a range of Communications activities, and must be a good team player. He/she will be expected to manage and run the production office in cooperation with a second production officer and an administrator.

Qualification

The successful candidate should have a good understanding about production processes, and have worked for at least two years as a project manager in publishing or a related field
He/she should have a sound knowledge of the different printing houses and designers based in Kabul and of the challenges faced by printers and publishers in the Afghan context
The successful candidate should have proven translation skills and to have worked professionally translating texts from English into Dari and/or Pashto. He/she should also be able to proofread accurately and edit texts
The successful candidate will ideally be aware of the mandate and work of the ICRC and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
Apart from the required professional experience and skills the ideal candidate will be:

Creative, well organized and motivated to work for the ICRC

Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Have proven project management skills
Be fluent in Dari and Pashto, have excellent communications skills and a perfect command of English
Be able to travel to the ICRC sub-delegations and offices throughout Afghanistan as required
