Job Summary

Rehabilitation of Afghans with Disabilities (RAD) is a programme of Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA). SCA runs four RAD projects in thirteen provinces in Afghanistan managed in four Project Offices (PO); Ghazni, Jalalabad, Mazar-e-Sharif, and Taloqan , each project has five main components (physiotherapy, orthopaedic workshop, community mobilization and advocacy, special and inclusive education and employment support)
The Community Based Rehabilitation Worker (CBR-Worker) is the responsible person in term of implementation of CBR strategy for the rehabilitation, recognition and integration of PwDs with in community level where awareness, training and linking PwDs with external service providers are key tools.
The CBR-Worker reports to the Head of Community Mobilisation and Advocacy, but due to the field work nature of the work can be assigned to report or follow instructions from field supervisors, employment support officer, and special and inclusive education officers of physiotherapists.

Duties and Resposibilities

• House to house surveys of PwD with in her concerned area
• Assess needs of PwD with assistance of physiotherapy, Special Education and Employment Support sections and prepare plan for rehabilitation intervention including selection of training material
• Work as a first referral source for the implementation of CBR Strategy
• Assist RAD trainers in establishment of CBR Committees and Disable People Organizations (DPOs)
• Identify and mobilise available local resources and utilise for better implementation of CBR strategy for the rehabilitation of People with Disability (PwD)
• To promote awareness and given advice on disability and rehabilitation issues to the community
• To promote community’s knowledge regarding disabilities and its prevention at different stage
• Facilitate school integration of children with disability after completion of preparatory education
• Assist Employment Support Officer (ESO) in identification of PwD for vocational group and apprenticeship
• Assist PwD in filling of revolving loan application forms and collect loan instalments from loan borrowers
• Distribute publications such as monthly ability to all villages covered by him/her in to all schools and health centres in the concerned area
• Refer needy PwD to other rehabilitation resources inside and outside of RAD

Qualification

• Graduated from a relevant college is preferred, 12th grade is required
• Minimum three years work in community development programme, preferably work with disability or disability support organizations
• Fluency in Dari and Pashto written and spoken
• Ability to travel and live at RAD project sites within Afghanistan
• Being Afghan citizen
