Medicines Sans Frontires (Doctors Without Borders) is an international non-governmental humanitarian aid organization that provides emergency medical assistance to people affected by armed conflicts, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters and exclusion from health care, in more than 60 countries around the world.Job Summary
Work as a surgeon for a trauma hospital. For that, the main activities will be under the supervision of the expatriate surgeon:1) Operate in the Operating theatre and apply the MSF protocols and guideline (chirurgical procedure, management tools, evaluation and standardization of medical needs, follow-up of post operative patient, supervise the application of chirurgical tools, cleaning and disinfecting, etc) ;
2) Make follow up of the post operative patient and follow all the protocol put in place.
3) Attend the MSF trainings;
4) Communication with the expatriate supervisor and the medical team(Doctor, Nurse, all..).
Duties and Resposibilities
a) Continue the MSF OT standard in Protocols and Guidelines- Apply MSF protocols and recommendations , for surgical procedures and follow-up.
- In collaboration with the nurse and anesthetist, continue the management tools :
o register,
o patient file,
o surgical file,
- In collaboration with the nurse and anaesthetist, evaluation and standardization of medical needs :
o Material and equipment
o Drugs
- Continues maintenance and organization of the operating program, and follow up of post operative patient
- In collaboration with the nurse, supervise the application of surgical rules regarding preparation and running of operating room.
- Ensure the cleaners and OT nurse are cleaning and disinfecting the OT equipment, blood and body fluids and OT surfaces
b) Manage the IPD ward
• Ensure the surgical follow up of the patient hospitalized.
• Ensure good documentation of the patient clinical findings, vital signs monitoring and treatments.
• Handover of patient to doctors and nurses at the start of each shifts.
• Ensure good communications amongst doctors, ED staffs, patients and patient family.
• Assist colleagues to manage emergency cases when the need arise.
• Provide minimal health information to the patients and family to increase public health awareness and to correctly use the ED service
ADDITIONAL TASKS
Participate in all trainings, meetings or campaigns organized by MSF.
On request perform any other additional duties given by the immediate supervisor in order to allow the organisation to function optimal

A. MEETINGS
a) Participate to the weekly & monthly Ward meeting.
b) Attend to the training provided by MSF
B. REPORTING
a) Report the task on daily basis to her/his supervisor

This job description can be modified according to the evolution of work.
Working hours: According to shift, 40 hours/week.
This schedule may be modified according to the seasons and special events (i.e Ramadan).
Qualification
Surgery diploma ;- 2 years experience in a similar position;
- Experience in an international organisation, NGO is an asset;
- Basic English level oral and written, Good Dari oral and written, Pashtu is an asset;
- Very organized person able to plan his/her work in advance, autonomous and rigorous;
- Motivation to work in an international/inter-cultural context and humanitarian and team spirit.
- Dynamic, flexible, adaptable;
- Sense of responsibility and care;
