Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the incumbent is to: Carry out monitoring and supervision of Community Organized Primary Education classes/schools, build principals and schoolteachers’ capacity through conducting various training sessions as per the project training program and on the job assistance during the monitoring visits, collect school and training data and assist Project Admin Officer in data analysis and interpretation and report development, conduct baseline and technical surveys that will primarily be used for eligibility and feasibility purposes, conduct community mobilization and class/school establishment, assist Field Supervisor in developing Community Organized Primary Education (COPE) project scope and make sure from properly utilization and collection of M&E Tools.Duties and Resposibilities
1. Carries out classes and schools’ monitoring and supervision to make sure that classes/schools are functional in line with project objectives, strategy and plan and provide quality basic education to students.• Prepares school annual, monthly, weekly and daily monitoring and supervision plans;
• Undertakes regular visits to monitor and oversee classes/schools over all performance;
• Observes classroom teaching-learning process and activities and provides on the job training and assistance to the schoolteachers;
• Checks school records (student, teacher attendance, inventory, etc.) and provides principals and teachers required and appropriate technical administrative assistance in timely manner;
• Undertakes school material need assessment during the monitoring trips and makes sure timely delivery of required materials to schools and students;
• Develops and helps principals and teachers conduct various tests and exams particularly mid term and final ones for students;
• Undertakes physical check of school building in order to ensure the existence of conducive physical learning environment;
• Makes sure that provincial education department receives a copy of the final exam result;
• Maintains good working relations with authorities.
2. Builds principals and teachers’ capacity through conducting various training sessions as per the project training program and on the job assistance during monitoring visits so that they best meet their school management and teaching-learning responsibilities.
• Undertakes principals and teachers’ training need assessment;
• Prepares training plan for principals and schoolteachers;
• Develops and conducts in close collaboration with STOs training programs for
principals and teachers;
• Develops training aid materials;
• Conducts evaluation of training sessions;
• Assists Senior Teacher Trainers in developing training manuals.
3. Collects school and training data as well as M&E tools and assists Project Admin Officer in data analysis and interpretation and report development.
• Collects and compiles school and training sessions’ related data as well as M&E tools;
• Assists Project Admin Officer in data analysis and interpretation;
• Submits accurate and proper monitoring, supervision, training, observation, and other
relevant reports to the field supervisor in timely manner;
• Assists Project Admin Officer in quantitative and narrative reports’ development;
• Assists Field Supervisor in the development of the final versions of various reports;
• Disseminates relevant information to principals and teachers.
4. Undertakes Community Mobilization, baseline and technical surveys, and classes/schools’ establishment.
• Develops baseline and technical surveys plan;
• Conducts baseline and technical surveys at intended communities/areas that will
primarily be used for eligibility and feasibility purposes;
• Identifies eligible communities for assistance;
• Develops and conducts teacher competency tests;
• Develops and conducts students’ placement test if required;
• Establishes classes/schools as per the project proposal.
• Distributes school and students materials as per set criteria and make sure from proper distribution and evidence for future reference.
5. Assists Field Supervisor in the development of project scope.
• Assists field supervisor in setting AOP for Community Organized Primary Education project;
• Assists field supervisor in developing IOPs in the light of AOP;
• Assists field supervisor in developing project implementation and action plans;
• Assists field supervisor in developing project operation budget;
• Assists field supervisor in the development of reports;
• Helps field supervisor better meet her/his responsibility of assisting PM in developing project proposals.
Qualification
EDUCATION: At least university graduate in teaching/training or other relevant trades (graduate of teacher training college is acceptable).WORK EXPERIENCE: At least three years working experience in teacher training, preferably with an international organization.
SKILLS: Very good training and facilitation skills, good communication skills in national languages and fair level of written and spoken English.
LANGUAGES: Fluency in written and spoken Dari and Pushto languages, English will be an advantage.
GENERAL: Enthusiasm to the job, gender sensitivity, willingness to travel as per the project requirements, favoring education and development.
AUTONOMY:
Under the supervision of Field Supervisor, the incumbent has full autonomy to fulfill his/her responsibilities in the best possible way.
CONTACTS/KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Primarily with Field Supervisor, Project Admin Officer, staff of other projects of education program and other support staff at the duty station and close working relation Teacher Training and Community Mobilization Senior Technical Facilitators.
