Saxophone Teacher

Applications are invited from qualified and talented music teachers who wish to make musical history in this troubled part of the world. The college requires a music teacher to teach saxophone from the beginner to tertiary levels, and teach music academic courses to various age groups and assist with daily duties within the school.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Successful applicant will be required to teach saxophone from beginner to diploma levels, although it should be understood from the outset that it will take time for all grades to become fully integrated;

2. Successful applicant will be required to teach general class music lessons to a variety of students in the various grades;

3. Opportunities will arise for the saxophone teacher to become a member of the senior academic management team, at the invitation of the ANIM Director or the College Principle;

4. The saxophone teacher as other teachers will be encouraged to take an active part in forming various school music ensembles and play in the ANIM orchestra and ensembles;

5. Successful applicant will be required to assist with designing teaching and learning material for Afghan traditional instruments as they become part of formal music education;

6. The saxophone teacher similar to other teachers will be required to execute her/his teaching duties in a professional manner, as directed by the ANIM Director or College's Principal;

7. The saxophone teacher will be required to assist with the general duties of the school, such as monitoring of students' behavior and discipline;

8. All members of the teaching staff are required to execute their responsibilities with professionalism, courtesy and dignity, as well as an appreciation of, and fondness for, their students;

9. The successful applicant will report directly to the ANIM Director, who will monitor the work of the teaching staff and discuss strengths and weaknesses of the staff on a regular basis;


Excellent computer literacy including experience/use of a large staff management database and use of MS Office packages and the preparation of procedural documentation and virus protection systems.


1. All candidates should possess a bachelor degree in music from an accredited university, college of music, or college of education. In the case of the latter, applicants must have studied music to an advanced level within the education course that they pursued. Evidence of qualifications will be required;

2. All candidates should possess at least 3-5 years of teaching experience with certificate or diploma in teaching and performing saxophone;

3. All candidates should have proven ability to actively engage students in their learning process;

4. The successful applicant will oversee the participation of saxophone students in various ensembles, groups and orchestras;

5. The successful applicant should have ability to arrange for various ensembles, leading and conduct music ensembles;

6. All candidates should provide evidence that they are cleared by the police in their country of origin to work with children;

7. All candidates should have excellent communication and inter-personal skills;

8. All candidates should have strong cross-cultural and mentoring skills;

9. All candidates should have the ability to use music software, especially the Sibelius program;
