IT officer position with Afghan Midwives Association (1314 Views)

About Afghan Midwives Association

Support Project (HSSP) will provide technical and financial support to the Afghan Midwives Association to transition from a voluntary organization to a self managed organization. In the fall of 2010, supported by HSSP, the AMA will increase it’s organizational leadership, governance and management structure to include a management team of eight full-time core staff, four voluntary Technical Advisors and a Board of Directors with former AMA president Pashtoon Azfar as it’s the chair. During this transition period, the AMA executive committee will remain as volunteers with one day a week dedicated in the AMA office. With increased donor support in operational year 2011-2012 the executive committee positions will transition to the executive director, deputy director and program officer of the AMA national office.

Beginning with only 80 members in 2005, the Afghan Midwives Association (AMA) has grown to over 1,600 professional midwives and student members from 32 provincial chapters in 2010. Increasing donor support has steadily expanded the number of AMA implemented activities to raise awareness for safe motherhood and improve the quality of midwifery education and health service provision.
