Job Summary

Kakar Advocates seeks a registered Senior Attorney to assist with new and ongoing cases related to corporate, criminal and commercial law. The successful will join a team of talented attorneys working on significant cases with high-profile clients. This is not an entry-level position; candidates without the requisite experience cannot be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake duties and responsibilities as directed/ requested by the Managing Partner, which may include:
• Drafting letters, legal briefs and contracts;
• Representing clients in courts or other governmental offices;
• Acting as counsel of record for clients;
• Managing matters related to client cases;
• Conducting legal research and analysis;
• Drafting case theories;
• Providing comprehensive legal support to fellow members;
• Integrating best practices and standards in handling clients and their cases;
• Attending meetings, conferences, interviews and trials; and
• Preparing and conducting legal training seminars;


Training will be provided. However, this is a mid-level position and the successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
• Holding a law degree, with a minimum of five years of professional experience in civil, criminal and commercial courts. Master’s degree is preferred;
• Excellent knowledge of Afghan legal system and laws;
• Ability to produce high quality, well written legal documents and reports in English;
• Detail oriented with strong communication, research, analytical and writing skills;
• Ability to work both independently and as a team member in a deadline driven environment;
• Experience in drafting letters, briefs, contracts and case theories;
• Experience in handling mediations and negotiations;
• Excellent academic credentials from a recognized university;
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent command of English, and local languages (Pashto, Dari);
• Effective computer skills: Microsoft Office Software, internet and emailing; and
• Registered with the Afghanistan Independent Bar Association.
