This project will provide educational programming for approximately 1400 female students housed in the Women’s Dormitory at Kabul University

Job Summary

The Student Affairs Specialist is primarily responsible for the career/educational services, and also assisting in organizing events, student activities, and sport activities. This position will work closely with various departments to ensure the office operations are running properly.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Advise students on US higher education admissions process, scholarship and fellowship opportunities, standardized test requirements, study visa requirements, financial aid, etc;
• Host/co-host outreach events with Kabul Advising Education Center (KEAC), located in Kabul, and relevant entities locally;
• Provide workshops on application essays, interviews and other elements of university application process;
• Provide individual and group career counseling services using relevant theories and best practices;
• Generate information on learning opportunities including conferences, academic degrees, local and online short-term courses and programs addressing various professional development areas;
• Provide resources on coaching, consultation and technical assistance;
• Assist the Project Director in celebrating different national or international days, such as Afghanistan Independence Day, Women’s Day and other culturally appropriate themes;
• Assist with other colleagues in dormitory programming events including, but not limited to, new student orientation, leadership workshops, and etc;
• Demonstrate a professional attitude, philosophy, and commitment which promote student growth and learning;
• Report on monthly, quarterly or annual basis to Project Director and management;
• Perform any additional related duties as assigned by the Project Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in management or related field, Master Degree is preferred;
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in related fields;
• Fluent in English and both Local languages (Dari & Pashtu);
• Very strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral);
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
• Ability to provide training/workshops/seminars.
