The assignment will be initially for 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance at the end of the first 3-months of probationary period. After 12 months, subject to a complete performance review, availability of funding; and the circumstances of the Ministry of Education prevailing at that time, an extension to the contract may be considered after bilateral consent.
The duty station of this position will be ASDP Office/Deputy Ministry for TVET, Ministry of Education/ Kabul, Afghanistan and might travel to provinces when required.

Duties and Responsibilities
1.Perform design and analysis calculations along with estimation (BoQ) and drawings for Plumbing and HVAC systems using governing codes and standards including but not limited to ASHREA, IPC, NFPA, IMC, AED Mechanical & Plumbing Design Requirements, and UFC, engineering formulas, skills and experience.
2.Plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
3.Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, Estimation of quantities for Mechanical work, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to scope of work, technical requirements, applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and standards as specified in contract.
4.Provide necessary inputs to the rest of the design and supervision team on civil engineering requirements for construction of projects.
5.Review the Water Supply and drain (S&D) systems in TVET Projects, and instruct the contractor accordingly.
6.Monitor the quality of work done by the contractor with regards to Water Supply and Drain (S&D) systems and sub-systems in all TVET Projects.
7.Supervise the construction of structures and installation of Water Supply and Drain (S&D) systems and sub-systems in the new Campus with special attention to quality of work.
8.Develop all necessary drawing and design sheets.
9.Develop layout and details of projects using schematic layout by project concept or with assistance of line manager.
10.Prepare drawing drafts using AutoCAD and other programs as required by Contractors and ASDP for own designs.
11.Prepare material and attend management meetings and present the related information of the projects in any sessions requires by Ministry of Education.
12.Review and/or develop shop drawings, catalogues, and material samples to incorporate them in design.
13.Providing responses to comments received from Site Engineers of Contractors.
14.Mechanical work test follow up and record.
15.Taking charge all of mechanical works, utilities installation inside and outside of building, sanitary and plumbing pumping station, water tank and septic tank, HVAC system…etc.
16.Prepare and provide Monthly and quarterly progress Reports as desired by the Team Leader and in line with various donors and other compliance requirements.
17.Handle routine contract administration and other duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor.

1. At least Bachelor degree in field of Mechanical Engineering
2. At least 4 years of working experiences in relevant field.
3. Leadership skills, Strategic thinking, flexibility, achievement motivation, oral and written communication skills, interpersonal relations skills.
4. Advance computer knowledge and skills especially engineering software such as Auto Cad, MS Office.
5. Strong written and oral communication skills in Dari, Pashto and English.
6. Background in training and techniques to capacity building development.
Have the experience of Design and construction of different type of engineering projects.
