Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Education Advisor, the Education Advising Assistant will provide one-on-one and group advising on studying in the U.S. and is responsible for teaching and advising students on how to apply for scholarships and educational programs in the U.S.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide accurate comprehensive, current and timely information about educational opportunities in the United States at undergraduate, graduate and post graduate level as well as for specialized study;
• Assist student with preparing for study, training, or research in the United States by providing materials on testing, application procedures, and educational opportunities at U.S. institutions;
• Develop information packets on specific field of study and area of education to student need;
• Design, prepare and deliver group and individual counseling sessions on a variety of topics (e.g, admission process, standardized tests,) to Afghan students interested in applying to U.S. educational institutions;
• Prepare promotional materials for KEAC to promote educational advising services.
• Advise students on how to prepare strong applications for different USG sponsored exchange programs;
• Guide and support students in the selection of scholarships, best fit colleges, and major;
• Monitor and accurately document the progress of students during learning in the testing center through performance indicators and metrics;
• Assist students on how to adapt themselves with the diverse American culture and complete their studies in the universities;
• Network with educational institutions to promote KEAC services, EducationUSA opportunities and USG sponsored programs;
• Conduct regular outreach and advising sessions at high schools, universities and higher educational institutions;
• Outreach to non-educational institutions to promote KEAC services and USG sponsored programs;
• Maintain records of advising activities, and statistics, drafting weekly and quarterly reports;
• Assist with Social Media, online presence of KEAC when needed;
• Handle general educational inquiries received via phone and email;

Travels to Provinces

Require Travels to Provinces


• Fluency in spoken and written English and Dari/Pashto;
• Excellent Public speaking/presentation skills;
• Be able to work with minimum supervision;


• At least 3 years experience in field of education, administration or relevant field is required;
• University degree in a related field (fine arts, business administration) required;
• The candidates shall have worked in a similar capacity for Universities, governmental body, NGO or international organization;
• Excellent communication, problem solving and presentation skills;
• Committed to hard work and continual learning;
• Some ability to develop and present public information materials to promote center use;
• Solid commitment to customer service;
• A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
• The candidate must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Dari/Pashto;
• Be able to work with people of different backgrounds ang age-groups;
