About Afghanistan New Generation Organization

The Afghanistan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) is an Afghanistan-based organization and the most comprehensive journalist safety mechanism of any country in the world. AJSC maintains the largest database of media workers in Afghanistan, has national and provincial female coordinators to provide support to female media workers, publishes research on media and freedom of speech in Afghanistan, works closely with the Afghan government to develop media laws and provides emergency support to journalists in conflict. AJSC operates under the umbrella of the Afghanistan New Generation Organization (ANGO), an Afghanistan-based NGO that works on projects related to youth in Afghanistan.

Job Summary

The Project Coordinator will oversee the activities of an ANGO program to enhance activist and journalist ability to safely and effectively report on and promote human rights in the country, funded by the United States Department of Labor, Democracy and Human Rights. The Project Coordinator is responsible for the project’s staff management, monitoring and evaluation and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee work and management of all project staff, including task assignment, work oversight and professional support
• Complete all Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) activities in accordance with ANGO’s proposed M&E plan
• Serve as ANGO’s primary point of contact with the United States Department of Labor, Democracy and Human Rights
• Produce monthly internal reports on staff and project activities
• Write and submit all reports as required by the Department of Labor, Democracy and Human Rights
• Complete other tasks as required
