The International Development Law Organization (IDLO) is an inter-governmental development organization with headquarters in Rome and program offices in Kabul and several other provinces in Afghanistan. IDLO fulfils its mandate by providing training, technical assistance, research, and publication to governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), local communities, and professional associations in developing countries, countries in economic transition, and countries emerging from armed conflict. IDLO began working in Afghanistan in 2001 and has become a leading partner of Afghan government, donor countries and international agencies to achieve the common goal of strengthening the rule of law. Afghanistan has been an IDLO Member Country since 2012.
Accountable to the Logistic Officer. Responsible for the management of the International Staff Kitchen at the IDLO Compound in Kabul.

Duties and Responsibilities
o Ensure daily menu is followed
Food Orders follow the menu as well
Ensures Weekend and Holiday schedules are followed:
• Friday/Saturday, brunch beginning 0930 – 1300 hours
• Dinner: 1730 – 1900 hours
• Holiday schedules follows the weekend schedule
Food menu shall be completed for the entire week and turned to the Logistics Officer.
Receive food deliveries each Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and stocked properly
o Food Preparation
Food orders prepared according to request
Meats are defrosted in the refrigerator
Food preparation completed each morning in a clean environment
• No food items are placed on the floor
• No food debris such as vegetable peels are placed on the floor
o Serving of Food
Food is served in the International Dining Facility (INDFAC)
Plates, utensils and napkins are provided.
Beverage Refrigerator re-stocked prior to meals so the beverages are cool.
Supervise Kitchen Clean Up
Cook and Cook’s Assistant are responsible for cleaning the International Kitchen and dining area.
Walls are wiped down and disinfected
Counters and cupboards are wiped down and disinfected
Stoves, and ovens are cleaned daily.
Refrigerators are wiped down daily and clean inside once a week
Floors are kept clean, mopped and free of debris
Food will not be kept over three days
All food items are covered and dated
• Placed back into appropriate residential rooms
o Cook will maintain a neat and clean appearance
o Cook will wear hair net when in the kitchen preparing food
o Cook will wear an apron over clothing
o Cook will wear appropriate shoes
Highly experienced in preparing international dishes (western food is a must)
Five years of experience required as a Cook in a compound setting.
Must have previous experience in preparing Western style dishes.
Able to communicate in English, Dari and Pashtoo.
