About Afghan Social Marketing Organization (ASMO)

The Afghan Social Marketing Organization (ASMO) is a social marketing and behavioral change communication organization established in August 2008. ASMO as a free-standing, not-for-profit Afghan organization aims to create positive health outcomes by giving Afghan households the information they need to make informed and healthy choices and expanding access to high quality health products through commercial markets.

Vision: ASMO’s vision is to serve as a “partner for a better life” in Afghanistan where families (especially women and children) and communities are empowered to protect and improve their health and social well-being; where markets for health products are vibrant and expanding; and where consumer awareness of healthy choices, access to affordable health products and social services steadily improves and is increasingly sustainable.
Mission: ASMO strives to design and implement effective and integrated health and social issue marketing interventions intended to improve the overall well-being of the country's population, especially women and children, while stimulating and increasing private commercial sector participation.

ASMO is partner with Jhpiego incorporation under HEMAYAT project and at the same time partner with Abt Associate Inc under SHOPS Plus project (The Sustaining Health Outcomes through the Private Sector Plus. Both projects are USAID funded program.

Job Summary

Under the guidance and direct supervision of ASMO Security Officer, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive office vehicles safely and, take/drop staff members, to the official destinations as directed by supervisor;
• Records all journeys, service and maintenance information in the vehicle logbook, and ensures the vehicle is in a good condition and operationally working well,
• Checks oil, water, brake and clutch fluid on a daily basis; tire pressures, battery, water, and overall vehicle condition on a daily and monthly basis
• Prepares a written report, utilizing ASMO standard format, to the Security Department for any even minor accidents, or any damage or theft of equipment from the vehicle;
• Responsible for program vehicle documents and its care, keeps vehicle logbook register and update on a daily basis. Calculates the petrol, oil, and lubricant use on a monthly basis;
• Reports the need for maintenance and undertakes minor repairs;

• Ensure that all necessary legal documentation and permits (both for vehicle and driver) are available while travelling inside or outside the city,
• Ensure that the vehicle is fully equipped with essential emergency equipment while travelling inside or outside the city, including first aid kit, towrope, torch, spare fuel can (metal), water, tool box, shovel, compass, chain etc;
• Should be able to drive different types of vehicles, e.g. Toyota pickup, Toyota Prado,
• To follow office rules and regulations and to be adaptable to any changes in connection to responsibilities and assignment,
• Perform any other related tasks assigned by supervisor,


• Good understanding of security protocols and procedures related to driving
• Vehicle maintenance skills shall be an added advantage
• Good communication skill


Be a high school graduate. Additional education/training is a plus. Approved driving license is required.

Work Experience:
• 3 to 5 years driving experience preferably with international NGOs and driving 4x4 vehicles
• Good understanding of security protocols and procedures related to driving
• Vehicle maintenance skills shall be an added advantage
• Good communication skill
• Should be familiar with local languages in both oral and written forms
• Knowledge of English language is an advantage.
