Operating in Afghanistan since 2003, ILF-Afghanistan is a country-wide public defender office that provides criminal defense services free of charge to indigent Afghan men, women, and children. Established by the International Legal Foundation (ILF), an international non-governmental organization based in the United States, ILF-Afghanistan is non-governmental and Non profit organization registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan.

Job Summary

The Driver of is responsible to ensure proper preparation of vehicles prior to any tip. He is required to handle and drive the vehicle in a responsible and careful way, ensuring adherence ILF-A rules and the traffic law of the country. As carrier of ILF-A staff and goods the driver is also required to take security considerations seriously; arriving to destinations before darkness, avoiding potential danger spots such as unused roads (mines), crowds, military convoys, etc. The applicants should have Mechanical experience to fix the office vehicle.

Duties and Responsibilities

To take care of assigned vehicle; prepare it for field trips (ensuring sufficient vehicle maintenance prior to trip, availability of spare tires, first-aid kits, snow-chains, etc), maintain it during trip (including secure parking) and clean the vehicle on completion of trip
To report to the Head Driver any accidents or malfunctions of the vehicle
To undertake long and short trips as required
To bring and take back the ILF-A staff before and after the office hours daily
To properly check oils and fuels of his vehicle during trip and when necessary undertake smaller repairs
To Properly fix the vehicle significant errors and defaults.
To know and obey traffic rules and know the special rules of ILF-A (e.g. avoiding military convoys, not driving after dark, avoid potential mines [off-road driving], etc
To help the support staff in their daily duties such as cook, Security guards, Cleaners.
To sign all the related document of his trip by related officer
To fill in the vehicle log book properly
To be helpful to the passenger within the limit of logistics rules and ILF-A Security Manual
To wash his vehicle and keep clean it all the time
To supply goods/cash to the project site with the help of suppliers
To report his arrival and departure from any regional offices or (Main office ) to the Admin officer /Head Driver

Skills

Mechanical skills to fix the vehicle to significant level.
Traffic Law/Rules knowledge is must.
Good communication skills.
Able to travel to any province.
Able to work with other support staff.

Qualifications

1. Middle school/Secondary school
At least 6 years experience in a similar position and good local knowledge of characteristics of districts (populations, roads, etc) of covered provinces, 3 Years experience required as Mechanic of vehicles.
Fluent in Dari, Pashto, written and spoken, English a strong advantage
Valid driving license is must.
Mechanic know-how a strong asset, as well as, ability to drive trucks
Honest, active and well mannered
Local minority group applicants are highly encouraged to apply.
