About Human Rights Research and Advocacy Consurtium ( HRRAC)

The Human Rights Research and Advocacy Consortium is a national non-governmental organization established in early 2003 to engage in proactive research and advocacy on human rights issues in Afghanistan.
The key elements to the program management are:
1. Developing strategic policies and concepts of proposals.
2. Advocacy to influence policy change.
3. Coordinate and implement HRRAC’s ongoing programs/projects
4. Research on what Afghans think about key human rights issues and capacity building for member organization staff in rights based approaches. The program manager will manage the implementation of all the projects
HRRAC encourage the candidates, with relevant experience, qualification and Afghan nationality to apply for this position. The incumbent is required to have knowledge of Afghanistan and NGO’s management system or have worked in the development sector. The incumbent will follow on the implementation of Every Voice Counts (EVC) & other projects and policies of HRRAC.

Duties and Responsibilities

• He/She must stay in the field office and visit field activities regularly. He/She must travel outside Khost to monitor project progress and update the database
• Providing overall coordination of the project and planned activities, including internal monitoring of results;
• Supervise and manage field staff and activities in the field.
• Work as HRRAC committed Employee for the implementation of HRRAC strategy and projects in Khost province
• Keep good relations with all projects stakeholders including EVC project staff. Providing oversight and mentoring to program activities and Khost office staff, under the supervision of program manager
• Providing overall coordination of projects and planned activities, including internal monitoring of results;
• Monthly Report-writing and other relevant reports as specified in the contract to HRRAC Program Manager.
• Liaising with local authorities and CSO’s of the organization about projects planning, implementation, reporting and fundraising;
• Translations from Pashto to Dari and vice versa.
• Travels to the Projects areas.
• Organizing and moderating discussions on inclusive governance and human rights issues within the framework of the project;
• Conducting awareness and capacity building, conferences and workshops.
• Supervise and collect data for HRRAC researches.
• Overseeing discriminatory laws, regulations and practices in the society.
• Meeting with policy makers at local level.
• Managing the production of program materials including outreach and awareness visual and non-visual advocacy tools.
• Staying up to-date on political and social developments in project based areas that may affect the project implementation;
• Liaising with officials from government, donors, UN agencies, academia, NGOs, and media in order to maintain a close and congenial working relationship between HRRAC and these institutions, and to ensure the visibility of HRRAC’s work;
• Development of operations and logistical plans relating to programs with stakeholders
• Participate in HRRAC events in Kabul and Khost and represent HRRAC office in Khost.
• Take care of HRRAC and its Partner (s) reputation at field level. Take care of HRRAC properties, office, equipment etc
• Keep excellent relations with project stakeholders, community, Care office in Khost, government directorates, district government and all other government and non-government agencies and actors, including influential members of communities.
• Motivate, coach and if needed train staff on issues related to the efficient implementation of project activities.
• Performing other duties delegated by the HEAD OFFICE Project Management.
• Understand and follow all human rights related issues while with projects stakeholders.
• Remain committed, positive towards women and children, dignified, keep high morals and understand cultural sensitivities.
• Coordinate activities within the field and with Kabul Main office
• Monthly Report-writing and other relevant reports as specified in the contract to donors as well as stakeholders
• Liaising with local authorities and CSO’s of the organization about the project planning, implementation, reporting and fundraising;
• Translations from English to Pashto/Dari and vice versa.
• Travels to the Project areas and community groups.
• Train communities on basic rights from Islamic Perspective.
• Organizing and moderating discussions on inclusive governance and human rights issues within the framework of the project;
• Performing other duties delegated by the HEAD OFFICE Project Management.
• Development of operations and logistical plans relating to programs with stakeholders
• Develop and maintain electronic archive of HRRAC documents.

Skills

• Have good knowledge of Microsoft Offices Suite
• Possess good interpersonal skills and communication ability.
• Well organized, with the ability to properly record, store date.
• Frequently visit field and understand local and national sensitivities
• Have skills of conflict avoidance and conflict management
• Written and verbal communication skills in Dari/Pashtu and English languages.
• The candidates shall be willing to travel to provinces.
