About French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children
The French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC) was founded in 2006 is a unique public-private partnership between the Governments of Afghanistan & France, a French NGO – La Chaine de L’Espoir/Enfants Afghans and the Aga Khan Development Network through the Aga Khan University Hospital. FMIC embodies a sign of hope for the medical care of children in Kabul. The Institute has risen to the challenge of charting a course towards sustainable health solutions for Afghanistan. It is the first ISO certified hospital in Afghanistan, aiming to provide compassionate, accessible, cost-effective, high quality care services to the population of Afghanistan. Currently the hospital provides 94-bedded inpatient care for Children and adults, including 16 beds for paediatric intensive care, four operation theatres, a department of radiology which includes CT-Scan and MRI capabilities, a state-of-the-art laboratory, a 24 hour pharmacy service and outpatient services for the adult population in medical and surgical specialties. FMIC now offers 17 bed adult cardiac care with a state of art cardiac catheterization laboratory. This year FMIC will also offer 52 new beds for maternal care and a 14 bed neonatal intensive care unit.
FMIC also runs a Postgraduate Medical Education and is considered a training hub for healthcare professionals. Through its eHealth programme, FMIC offers telemedicine and eLearning services to hospitals in Bamyan, Badakshan and Kandahar in Afghanistan and Khorog in Tajikistan.
FMIC is working towards expansion of its health services towards establishing a comprehensive 400 bed Academic Medical Complex in Kabul, which will serve not only the Afghan population but Central Asia as well, as a medical Center of excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities
The ideal candidate would be able to:
o Establish a comprehensive Perfusionist education program that is congruent with organizational missions, values and goals.
o Develop comprehensive curricula and training modules to prepare Cardiac Perfusionist.
o Incorporate principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs.
o Develop smart goals and objectives and ensure meeting the set targets
o Develop Educational Plan, Modules and lesson plans and execute the same to meet the training needs in timely manner with a focus on building skills and incorporating theory into practice.
o Ensures to include educational module on cleaning/disinfecting, maintenance and proper handling of Heart-Lung Machine and other related equipment as per international infection control standards.
o Ensure effective utilization of all the educational resources which aid institution to achieve success of the program.
o Work closely with area head to ensure the integration of learned concepts into practices.
o Evaluate progress and effectiveness of training program objectively and writes and submits monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
o Collaborates with area head to identify second line local staff as Perfusionist Instructor and build his capacity to transfer of roles and responsibilities.
o Performs perfusionists duties in Cardiac or any other OT as and when assigned by the immediate supervisor.
o Stays long hours or reports on duty on day-off or as when called during emergencies.
o Establish goals and objectives, quality plan and ensure its implementation.
o Manages official time as per institutional policy.
o Monitor and compile performance indicators related to all planned educational activities.
o Initiate the quality improvement projects and research projects along with the related team.
o Participate in other ongoing meetings of nursing division.
o Represent on different intra-departmental meetings and task groups as assigned by supervisor.
o Any other roles as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Knowledge and competencies (State skills, abilities & traits required)
o Basic life support (BLS) provider and instructor.
o Pediatric advanced life support (PALS) /advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) provider (Instructor certificate preferred).
o Proficient in operating Heart-Lung Machine.
o Ability to assess learning needs and make educational modules pertaining to Perfusionists.
o Ability to teach adult group of people and provide constructive feedback.
o Capability in developing educational plan for trainee perfusionist and execute same accordingly.
o Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with team members.
o Make responsible decisions that result in time and cost containment to the institution and customers and clear accountability.
o Travel within or outside the country for short/long term trainings/mission when needed.
o Possess excellent written competence to produce reports according to his/her goals and objectives.
o Computer competence in using MS Office and any other program as per need.
o Perfusionists Diploma/degree from an accredit entities.
o Registered with authentic entities in country of origin.
