About DAI

DAI is implementing the USAID funded program Promote: Women in the Economy (WIE) throughout Afghanistan. The objective of this project is to enable Afghan women to increase their participation in the mainstream, formal economy by securing employment with advancement potential and by helping women-owned businesses or businesses that employ women to grow.

Job Summary

The Learning Lab Specialist is primarily responsible for managing the Kabul based online learning computer lab, which has a focus on learning digital media software including the Adobe Specialist Certifications and other employer-demanded certifications. DAI makes online learning courses accessible to female students, revises and adds to the course listings in order to help women learn the skills to qualify for the marketplace, and manages the registration, screening, and enrollment of women on the system. The Learning Lab Specialist will also monitor sessions of 10-12 students while they complete online coursework to prepare for exams and certifications and serves as the point of contact for students both for technical questions on course materials and for certification exam requirements and which courses to take.
The Learning Lab specialist will also assist with the update and maintenance of WIE’s websites and management of social media platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities


1) Manage the day to day operations of the learning lab
2) Review online learning courses for relevance to job skills sought by Afghan Employers, in coordination with the WIE Workforce Development Team. Revise and add to course listings in consultation with management.
3) Manages the registration, screening, and enrollment of women the WIE beneficiary database (KMP) and on the system.
4) Schedules computer lab access time for students and monitors sessions of 10-12 students while they complete online coursework.
5) Answer students’ questions related to course materials, technical software issues, and prepare them for examination according to each software syllabus.
6) Schedule and enroll students for certification exams as appropriate.

7) Oversee the maintenance, updates, and management of program social media platforms as required.
8) Assist with the screening and registration of women to participate in other training that requires digital literacy, including given written/oral test or pre-screening interviews.


• Knowledge of HTML web technologies and applications.
• Knowledge of at least one web authoring tool and the use of content management systems



• Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) with 5 years of work experience;
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat) preferred.
• Knowledge of HTML web technologies and applications.
• Knowledge of at least one web authoring tool and the use of content management systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint).
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
• Attention to detail, ability to use a checklist and complete tasks with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Experience conducting trainings or teaching courses preferred.
• Experience with digital education resources like MOOCs or distance learning.
