About WISE Afghanistan

The Women's Initiative to Strengthen and Empower (WISE) is conducting a pilot in 4 maternal clinics of Kabul, Afghanistan on an innovative technological solution for the advancement of maternal health services. The focus of this program is to determine how the use of technology can enable medical professionals to provide better care for their patients and improve the quality of services provided. Salamat, the maternal health app that is being developed will help health professionals improve quality of data and access to patient health information.

Job Summary

As a responsible member of the Salamaat team, the Project manager will oversee the entire project and report to the Executive Director on the progress of the in all clinics as well as manage all project staff .

Duties and Responsibilities

• Recruitment: Hire and manage all staff, including 10 interns/technicians for the project
• Communication: Work with clinics to ensure smooth and timely onboarding of pilot
• Data analytics: Identify indicators that will be measured for the project
Implementation phase
◦ Task Management: Oversee all project activities
◦ Cost Control: Ensure all work is according to specified guidelines and budget
◦ Scheduling: Ensure all project milestones are completed on time
◦ Leadership: Lead the entire project pilot and provide monthly and quarterly reports on progress of project according to specified guidelines


• Knowledge of data reporting and monitoring and evaluation process
• Knowledge of basic project management skills, including project charters, plans, etc.
• Knowledge of basic analytical skills and/or monitoring and evaluation
• Skill in both verbal and written communication in Dari/Pashto and English
• Ability to communicate with medical professionals and stakeholders and build relationships professionally

Other Communication Skills
• Excellent written communication skills
• Highly computer literate; advanced email, word processing, and spreadsheet management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to work under pressure


• Five to seven years of project management experience
• Minimum of a Master's degree in relevant field (business administrative or public administrative)
• Previous experience in working with international organizations and/or health and women empowerment projects
• Fluency in writing English, Dari, and Pashto is required
• Previous experience with USOAD or donor-funded programming preferred
