URS-MegaTech is a Joint venture of two experienced companies in construction field. This company has a total capability across the spectrum of Army buildings, Power and transmission lines, roads, airports, bridges and civil engineering work.
URS-Megatech JV requires a Quality Control Engineer who will be part of the Electrical Substation Construction team and report all QC issues to the Quality Control Manager. QC Engineer should have general knowledge of all Civil, Structure and Electrical phases of work and be specialized in Substation works. The QC Engineer should report all QC reports on a daily basis to the Quality Control Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities
Part-1: Transmission Line – 220kV transmission line starting from Gardez Substation and terminating to Khost Substation. Some of QC Engineers responsibilities on this part of the project are:
a. Attending progress and project meetings.
b. Ensure all work meets contract specifications and requirements.
c. Schedule, implement and document the Three Phase Inspection for all of the project activities.
d. Towers erection. Test of nuts and bolts tightness for tower erections.
e. Inspection of Conductors Stringing and report the completed percentage of work.
f. Defining the deficiencies for all of the above works and reporting the causes resulting in those deficiencies.
g. Make sure all of the above work including tower foundation works, tower erection and stringing of cables is done according to drawings and specifications.
h. Performing 3 phases of inspection for all new activities and future works.
i. Presence in all tests performed by third party.
Part-2: Substations – Some of the issues which should be addressed in the daily QC reports are:
a. Attending progress and project meetings.
b. Ensure all Substation civil/structure and electrical works are according to the contract specifications and requirements.
c. Schedule, implement and document the Three Phase Inspection for all Substation civil/structure and electrical works.
d. Substation civil/structure works should be done according to the drawings and specifications.
e. Leading and controlling Substation Electrical works such as installation of High Voltage Equipment according to the designs and drawings.
f. Inspection of supply and installation of power transformers, auxiliary transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, surge arresters, current transformers (CTs), potential transformers (PTs), protection arrangement, grounding arrangement, and oversee the works of telecommunication, relay protection, automation and dispatching systems done by third party.
g. Identifying high voltage materials and tools for installation and necessary skilled and unskilled labors needed.
h. Presence in all substation test and commissioning works done by third parties.
The QC Engineer should assist the project manager with all other activities and problems that may arise that are relevant to the position of the QC Engineer.

Previous substation trainings and related degree to this field is a plus point.
a. Must have minimum of 3 years of experience as Quality Control Team Member with at least 1 year of QC experience in Substation construction projects or experience of working as QC Team Member of at least 1 electrical substation works from start to end.
b. Degree in electrical engineering from a well-known university.
c. Must have required knowledge of access in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
d. Quality control testing and inspection experience for Transmission and Substation Projects.
e. Ability to work with and communicate effectively with subcontractors, superintendents, engineering staff, consultants and owner’s representatives.
f. Ability to coordinate and manage inspection staff and inspection and testing subcontractors.
g.Ability to record and organize all necessary documentation to memorialize the implementation, maintenance and effectiveness of the Quality Control Program.
h. Ability to speak clearly and exercise good judgment.
i. Ability to work under pressure.
