Job Summary

The incumbent is responsible to perform full journeyman craftsman level repair maintenance and construction masonry work on U.S. Embassy properties to include chancery; staff living quarters and all other U.S. government owned or leased properties. Proceeds to accomplish necessary tasks in accordance with established trade practices and methods. May drive an official vehicle to transport tools; equipment and materials needed to complete assigned tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible to perform full journeyman craftsman level repair maintenance and construction masonry work on U.S. Embassy properties to include chancery; staff living quarters and all other U.S. government owned or leased properties. Proceeds to accomplish necessary tasks in accordance with established trade practices and methods. May drive an official vehicle to transport tools; equipment and materials needed to complete assigned tasks.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do the job. Analyzes needs and product requirements to create a design. Use mathematics to solve problems. Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance. High degree of manual dexterity. Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules. Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, to pull, or carry objects.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

1. EDUCATION: Completion of High School is required.

2. EXPERIENCE: Three years’ experience working as a Mason for a construction and/or maintenance company.

3. LANGUAGE: Dari Level III (Good working Knowledge) and English Level II (Limited working Knowledge) is required.

5. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as walkways, roads, piers, piles, caissons, and footings.
