Nutrition and Education International (NEI) is an international NGO based in Pasadena, CA, USA.
End malnutrition among impoverished women and children living in high mortality regions.
Since 2003 NEI has been developing a sustainable soy industry in Afghanistan as a practical solution to rampant malnutrition among Afghan women and children. NEI is a non-profit organization that implements programs using a corporate mindset, in a fast paced working environment. We collaborate with many Afghan ministries and international food security organizations to provide nutrition to malnourished people. Our current development focus is to create a self-sustainable soy value chain, including seed production, soybean cultivation, soy processing, and market development.

This position will be responsible for soy farmer identification, educating farmers in field of soybean cultivation, production, soy home consumption and soy food culture development. This includes monitoring of soybean farm, soybean farmers association (SFA) and assisting farmers technically in pest management and other agro Technics including post-harvest management. She will be responsible for well coordination with DAIL, Provincial Economic Department, DoWA for finding true beneficiaries and effective implementation of the project. She will also be responsible for effectively promoting home use of soybean and soy products and teaching beneficiaries soy recipes for home use which are adaptable to Afghan taste and food culture.

Duties and Responsibilities
Educate and assist farmers to produce for home consumption and market their harvest in access to retail and instructional market, and prepare and conduct soy recipe training programs.
Develop methods to increase soybean production yields/Jerieb, improve quality as well as assist in finding problems and solution in soybean farmers’ field.
Monitor soybeans cultivation by farmers to provide technical assistance in yields improvement during production.
Establish and manage demonstration farms for conducting experiments and seed multiplications for women farmers.
Conducting field day event on demonstration plot at provincial level.
Development budget plan to implement assigned task in the fields.
Develop method to promote soybean production for human nutrition and also animals feed.
Collect data during monitoring, work with NEI stockholder ( SFAs, SPCs and SSPCU)
Assist local entrepreneurs to develop soy processing sector and markets for soybean.
Develop methods for control of noxious weeds, crop diseases, and insect pets.
Serve as a liaison and manage relationship between NEI and relevant government agencies at provincial and district level, and other nonprofit & for- profit organizations.
Represent and promote the mission, values and efforts of NEI in any setting, including personal communication, news media appearance.

• Having knowledge of English completely.
• Bachelor Degree Agriculture/ agronomy
• Excellent written and spoken Dari, Pashto and English
