About ( Ministry of Agriculture) AAIP Project
Building on the Agriculture Master Plan, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoA) in collaboration with its development partners has defined a number of appropriate priorities for agricultural investments and policies under the National Agricultural Development Framework (NADF). In order to increase farmers' incomes and improve the food security situation, the GoA is giving foremost attention to strengthening of the agricultural production base. In this respect the government has asked the World Bank for assistance in strengthening agricultural input supply Systems. Specifically, the GoA has requested the World Bank for assistance in the preparation of the Afghanistan Agriculture Inputs Project (AAIP) that will consist of the following four components: (i) Improve seed production and certification; (ii) Establish infrastructure and policies regarding quality control and safe use of fertilizers and agrochemicals; (iii) Improve input delivery systems; and (iv) Establish efficient project management, implementation and coordination mechanisms.
The development objective of AAIP project is to increase adoption of improved crop production technologies through expanding development of certified seeds and improving access to agricultural inputs of reliable quality.
He/she will work under the direct supervision of National Plant Protection Coordinator and MAIL/PPQD Director and will perform different techniques in lab for identification of Plant Parasitic Nematodes.

Duties and Responsibilities
Extraction of Nematode from samples i.e., soil, root, seeds by using Burless Funnel and sieving methods from the suspected Nematode infested samples refer to the lab
Work on the Thermo cycler machine, Electrophoresis and other equipments for identification of plant parasitic Nematode
Cooperation with International Plant Nematologist working in Plant Nematology lab located at BadamBagh.
Record keeping of all sample tests conducted on Plant Nematode for identification/ diagnosis in lab
Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annually reports for all sample tests conducted in lab using various techniques.
Preparation of booklet on control of important Plant Parasitic Nematodes in various crops, fruits and vegetables of Afghanistan in co-operation with the International Plant Nematologist
Guide farmers to control/manage the Nematodes problems in crops, fruits and vegetables
Proper disposal of Nematode infested samples (soil) after lab analysis
Any other task assign by Project Director or concern coordinator.
Travels to Provinces
Require Travels to Provinces
Familiarity with the conventional and modern techniques used in detection and identification of Plant Parasitic Nematode from soil, plant or plant part like root, bulbs and seed and preparation of permanent slides
Excellent in scientific report writing and reporting to the concern agency
Knowledge of Nematode infestation in fruits, crops, seeds and vegetables in considering the Afghanistan Agriculture condition.
Courteous and excellent communication and inter personal relation skills.
Knowledge of selection, handling of equipments and chemicals required in plant Nematology lab
Proficient in English, Pashto and Dari, in speaking, reading and writing
Good knowledge of computer (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power point)
Willing to work in difficult and challenging circumstances
Able to work independently
Master Degree in Plant Nematology -Plant Pathology/Entomologywith minimum of 3 years working experience in the area of Identification of Plant Parasitic Nematodes incrops, fruits and seeds will be preferred. or
B.Sc (H) in Nematology -Plant Pathology/ Entomologywith minimum of 5years working experience in the aforementioned area.
