About ( Ministry of Agriculture) AAIP Project
Building on the Agriculture Master Plan, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoA) in collaboration with its development partners has defined a number of appropriate priorities for agricultural investments and policies under the National Agricultural Development Framework (NADF). In order to increase farmers' incomes and improve the food security situation, the GoA is giving foremost attention to strengthening of the agricultural production base. In this respect the government has asked the World Bank for assistance in strengthening agricultural input supply Systems. Specifically, the GoA has requested the World Bank for assistance in the preparation of the Afghanistan Agriculture Inputs Project (AAIP) that will consist of the following four components: (i) Improve seed production and certification; (ii) Establish infrastructure and policies regarding quality control and safe use of fertilizers and agrochemicals; (iii) Improve input delivery systems; and (iv) Establish efficient project management, implementation and coordination mechanisms.
The development objective of AAIP project is to increase adoption of improved crop production technologies through expanding development of certified seeds and improving access to agricultural inputs of reliable quality.
He/she will work under the direct supervision of National Plant Protection Coordinator and MAIL/PPQD Director and perform approaches in determination of Heavy Metals in prescribed samples.

Duties and Responsibilities
Analysis of heavy metal from various source like soil, water and plants on use of equipment HPLC etc. and titration methods
Operationalize the equipments like HPLC, atomic absorption spectrophotometer etc
Preparation of booklets on how to identify heavy metal from various sources and how to test to know whether the targeted item has heavy metals or not. If so would it affect human and animal life
After testing can provide information on the type of heavy metal present in the desire pesticides
Record keeping of all sample tests for heavy metal in labs
Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annually reports for all sample tests conducted in lab using various techniques.
Guide customer/traders to avoid/ reduce the use of those pesticides which contain heavy metal in their composition.
Any other task assign by Project Director or Coordinator.
Travels to Provinces
Require Travels to Provinces
Be familiar with all testing methods used in the detection of heavy metals from soil, water and plants with the help of equipments and titration methods
Good knowledge of pesticides which contain heavy metals that leads to adding these metals to soil and water after use.
Excellent skill in scientific report writing
Good knowledge of computer (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power point)
Excellent communication and training deliverable skills
Proficient in English, Pashto and Dari, in speaking, reading and writing
Able to work independently
Master Degree in In-organic chemistry or Environmental Chemistry with minimum of 3 years working experience in the area of heavy metals analysis form soil and water will be preferred.
B.Sc (H) in In-organic chemistry or Environmental Chemistry with minimum of 5years working experience in the aforementioned area.
