About American University of Afghanistan
The American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) is a private, non-profit university offering an American-style liberal arts education. We opened our doors in 2005 and currently offer four undergraduate academic majors and an MBA program. We have expanded operations to the 75-acre international campus across the street from our original campus. The IT department at the American University of Afghanistan is accepting applications for the position of IT Assistant. The IT Assistant shall work under general supervision of IT Services Manager and shall identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered in AUAF LAN and WAN. The incumbent shall have good analytical and problem-solving skills and shall be able to provide technical support to end-users regarding computer hardware and software. The incumbent shall be able to install, test, certify and troubleshoot networking cabling systems and shall be able to install configured network equipment and perform related work as required. The incumbent shall have hands-on experience and shall be able to install and configure mobile Applications, printers and copiers and client software for various business applications.

Duties and Responsibilities
Identify, troubleshoot and resolves hardware-, software- and network-related problems encountered by end-users at AUAF
Install, certify and troubleshoot campus and remote-campus network cabling infrastructure, including a wide variety of local area network equipment and software
Perform primary network system administration on network servers as needed
Perform, diagnostics and troubleshooting of computer system hardware, operating systems (Windows) and networks (wired and wireless)
Good knowledge of installation and configuration of Cisco L2 switches.
Good knowledge of DHCP, DNS, AD Site and services, FTP and Symantec AV Server.
Configure and install point-to-point devices such as Air Fiber, UBNT and WiMAX
Monitoring of the network connection on daily basis to ensure a stable and responsive network environment. Knowledge of NMS application is recommended.
Maintenance of up-to-date parameters of information for the network clients and electronic mail.
Perform Helpdesk responsibilities and user assistance through services desk ticketing system.
Install, troubleshoot, and repairs telecommunications equipment, data/voice cabling including computer and telephone lines and Voice over IP (VoIP).
Any other duties assigned by the line manager of head of department
Ability to identify and resolve problems associated with Computer Networks
Excellent knowledge of Windows Workstations, Servers, Network equipment and VoIP equipment
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and students.
Ability to minimize the time of failure and quickly identify the root cause of an issue.
Good written and verbal communication skills in local languages and English as a professional language.
Bachelor degree in Information Technology or BCS fields
CompTIA A+ or Network + Certified
Should have at least three years of working experience in Information Technology with similar or a little higher positions with international and/or highly reputed organizations
Any other technical certification will be a plus point
