It is one of the largest players in culture and cultural heritage in Afghanistan and supports the government in its endeavour to preserve the country’s heritage and promote nation-building.
Within this overall framework, UNESCO is currently undertaking a number of different cultural programs, aimed at supporting the relevant Afghan authorities in their efforts to protect and promote Afghanistan culture in all its dimensions.
UNESCO is looking for a committed Administrative Assistant who will provide operational support to the activities UNESCO will be carrying out within the Culture Unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall authority of the Director of the Kabul Office, overall supervision of the Head of Culture Unit and direct supervision of the Project Manager the Administrative Assistant incumbent will take the following responsibilities:

- Provide assistance in establishing efficient and effective monitoring systems for project activities;
- Develop and maintain an electronic filing system for the Culture Unit projects;
- Assist in monitoring the program’s implementation, including follow-up on the required arrangements for missions, events, and payments of due installments;
- Assist in monitoring financial and administrative matters and in preparing the supporting documents concerning the major activities as necessary;
- Assist the Culture Unit teams in the recruitment of required personnel based on UNESCO’s HR Manual, as required;
- Assist in ensure the delivering of files, reports and letters to various relevant stakeholders and partners, as necessary for a smooth implementation of the Culture Unit projects;
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Project Manager.

Qualifications

Education

• High-school diploma. Bachelor’s degree in administration and finance is an asset.

Work Experience

• At least 1-year relevant experience in finance and administration, preferably in cultural projects operations/management;
• Previous experience with UN Agencies and/or UNESCO would be considered as an asset.
