Job Summary

In accordance with established ICAO standards, manage the day to day installation, testing and commissioning of new and on-going, Power and Mechanical projects in airports and airbases including supervising and monitoring the site labor force and the work of electrical and mechanical engineering subcontractors. This also includes the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of existing projects and facilities of the Aviation Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Interface with customer and cultivate relationship with their engineering teams.
• Ensure a sound handing over of facilities to project beneficiaries.
• Undertake other duties as required and assigned by manager.
• Carry out feasibility studies for new power-mechanical projects of the company.
• Drawing up plans using computer-assisted engineering and design software (AutoCAD).
• Estimating power-mechanical loads, materials, construction, and labor costs, and project timescales.
• Coordinating with electrical and mechanical engineers, technicians, electricians and craftspeople.
• Making sure projects meet electrical and mechanical construction safety regulations and standards.
• Overseeing inspection and maintenance programs.
• Configure, test, and commissions power generation sets like ACDG’s, DCDG’s, Solar Power Systems, air conditioning, grounding systems and other electrical subsystems.
• Assist Implementation and O&M departments on all power-mechanical related issues.
• Conduct field work regarding electrical-mechanical measurements using applicable test equipment.
• Work on complex issues and prepare analysis of short-term or long-term capacity needs; prepare in-depth evaluations of power-mechanical systems.
• Operate test equipment and run post processing software when required.
• Provides technical training and assistance to junior level personnel.
• Provide team scheduling for normal and off hours.
• Plan and schedule major power supply or source migrations and upgrades.
• Work on complex issues and prepare analysis of short-term or long-term capacity needs; prepare in-depth evaluations on related electrical systems.
• Develop roll out standards and guidelines for electrical design and operation.
• Evaluate vendor products and services to ensure quality and cost meet company’s needs.
• Identify and resolve quality-related problems.
• Develop and evaluate power relevant performance criteria and measurement methods.

Skills

• Must be proficient how to prepare drawings using AutoCAD and other designing software related to Power-Mechanical Engineering.
• Must have an awareness of project reporting and project management.
• Must have a good understanding of the power-mechanical industry quality standards and acceptable standards of workmanship and requirements (appropriate to discipline)
• Working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and guidance e.g. Health & Safety at Work Act, Work at Height, Confined Spaces, Electrical Safety, etc.
• Must have relevant experience of supervising power-mechanical related works.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Power or Mechanical engineering from a recognized university.
• 3-5 years of professional experience of power-mechanical construction and supervision preferably on airports and airbases environment.
• Knowledge of established ICAO construction standards on airports and airbases environment is a plus.
