About the Project
City, the University of London in collaboration with Samuel Hall, will work in 2019 on a state-of-the-art
literature review on forced migration and returns to Afghanistan and Somalia through a small grant for a
pilot project. These reviews will then feed into an application for a larger research project.
The funds come from the Global Challenges Research Funds (GCRF) through City University of
London. The conditions of the award are that there should be economic or social benefits to and ODA
country (both Afghanistan and Somalia are ODA countries). To contribute to the academic research
capacity in each country, the researchers should be Afghan and Somali nationals and ideally would be
located in their respective countries.
Final versions of the reviews should be completed by 15 July 2019
It is anticipated that the comprehensive review will take three months
