About Asia Foundation:
To implement the above two projects, the Foundation has eight Coordinators in eight regions, and also engages an Implementing Partner (IP). In addition, the Foundation works closely with two specific directorates within the Ministry of Education: General Directorate of Academic Supervision and Learning Assessment (GDASLA) and General Directorate of Science and Educational Technology (GDSET). The focus of this job is to ensure, through a variety of activities:
students increase their interest and performance in science,
teachers receive adequate in-service training;
school administrators support both teachers and students to improve science learning and teaching;
parents are engaged with the school; and
Kankor preparation training is integrated into the regular science and math teaching curriculum.
Provinces to travel:
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the education sector with a very good understanding of its challenges and opportunities.
Have strong background in the use of ICT tools: databases, websites and so on.
Fluency and ability to write official letters and reports in English, Dari or Pashto required.
Proven skill of M&E planning and reporting.
Demonstrated ability in prioritizing, multi-tasking, meeting deadlines while functioning amicably under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office package and Internet usage.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and logistics support required for the successful implementation of project activities such as workshops and conferences;
Maintain project electronic and hard copies documents and ensure that the education folder on TAF intranet is accurate, update and organized.
Review documents prepared by IPs and provide input in the areas of distance learning, web-site development, and ICT tools recommended for use in these areas;
Develop and implement activities (through the field coordinators and IP) that increase the interest of students in science and math subjects;
Work closely with the Ministry and selected schools to develop and implement strategies for engaging parents to improve their children’s interest in science and math;
Assist the procurement department and IP in purchasing laboratory equipment for schools;
Takes notes/minutes at meetings and ensure follow up; and
Perform other duties assigned by Project Manager and senior management.
Planning and Coordination
Support Regional Coordinators in the development of schools’ physical visit schedules.
Review field reports to recommend solutions to challenges and activities that foster continued improvement in teaching/learning of science and maths;
Support efforts to strengthen the integration of Kankor preparation;
Support M&E team in the development M&E work plans by providing relevant field data such as start/end dates of academic year, examination schedules and so on; and
Work closely with the central GDSET and GDASLA staff to ensure they are fully informed and involved in the implementation of the activities
Follow up with grantees on timely submission of the reports.
Review the weekly reports received from IPs and send feedback for further development.

Job Location:Afghanistan, Kabul
Bachelor’s degree in science, mathematics, or Computer Science.
A minimum of three to five years of working experience with academic institutions, national and/or international organizations in the field of education, preferable with focus in science and technology.
Demonstrated experience in the areas of coordination of work to be done by others, organizing workshops and conferences, knowledge of key M&E concepts, and writing reports such as weekly reports and meeting minutes.
Experienced in working with ministries – preferably MoE and MoHE.
Experienced in working on USAID projects, but not necessary.
Must be willing to travel to secure provinces / areas within Afghanistan. Mahram costs are provided.
