WFP food assistance aims to help the most vulnerable, food insecure Afghans, including women and children, as well as families affected by conflict and natural disasters.
Under the direct supervision of ICT Associate and overall supervision of the Head of Area Office and within the delegated authority, the job holder is expected to perform the below mentioned site maintenance tasks which require range of skills.
To perform a variety of site maintenance tasks to support safe, comfortable and reliable working environment. Ensure timely repair and maintenance of generators, electerical infrastructure as well as Solar system.

Keep warehouse power system 100% up and regular maintenance the ICT equipment in WH.
Ability to work in a team and provide technical supervision to other staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Plan and Provide basic site maintenance and installation work (e.g. electricity, generators, water pumps, water heaters, etc.) including basic site repairs, ensuring well-functioning generators and electricity.
Maintain solar system and ensure timely services and parts replacement if required.
Properly use and maintain the generator tools and equipment and regularly report updates of the inventory list of tools and consumable spare parts.
Keep records of fuel consumption and consumable spare parts and report to ICT unit.
Request fuel and engine oil – quality and refuel the generators on time, Change engine oil, fuel and air filters on time.
Record the hour meter reading for each generator and perform class (A) check of generators.
Prepare purchase requests for fuel, oil and consumable spare parts, to keep running the generator without unnecessary stopping.
Prepare purchase requests for electrical items for minor electrical problems when required.
Maintaining the current electrical system in WFP premises in excellent conditions.
Periodic inspections of all electrical Systems, equipment and tools.
Repair and maintenance around 40 ACs in the office and warehouse compound.
Coordinate reporting and cleaning services, to ensure organized, safe and clean work environment.
Support deployment of and provide technical supervision to external contractors, to facilitate efficient and cost-effective servicing or intervention for any major electrical installations, maintenance or repairs.
Install, maintain and repair all kinds of electrical equipment and appliances including wiring and distribution systems, to ensure safe and reliable working environment in compliance with electrical standards.
Parts, consumable list prepared, and follow up made with procurement and supplier and reported to ICT officer on time.
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records through physical check and maintenance of lists/database, and arrange disposal of identified equipment and materials, strictly following WFP assets management guidelines.
Contribute to evaluation of required installation/repair works, compare prices of materials, and contribute to planning of future preventive maintenance works, to support efficient and cost-effective site maintenance services.
Preparation of any kind technical for specification purchasing of new power generators and electrical appliances.
Job Location:Afghanistan, Herat
Education: Completion of Secondary School education. Demonstrated qualification in mechanical engineering. Completion of technical/vocational school or mechanical engineering certification.
Four or more years of progressively responsible and proven experience in planning and executing specialized electrical installations, maintenance and repair work.
Experience of managing three high voltage generators.
Experience of managing solar system of more than 10 KW.
Language: Good knowledge of written and spoken English language. Fluency in Pashto or Dari, preferably both.
