About The Liaison Office:
Founded in 2003, The Liaison Office (TLO) is an Afghan non-governmental organization (NGO) that emerged from a Swiss peace pilot project (supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung) on good governance after the organization was approached by southeastern province community elders requesting assistance for participation in the peace and reconstruction process. TLO has since evolved into an independent Afghan NGO registered under number 611 with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan. MISSION: T o f a c ilit a t e t h e f o r m a l i n t e g r a ti o n o f c o m m u n iti e s a n d t h e i r t r a d iti o n a l g o v e r n a n c e structures within Afghanistan’s newly emerging peace, governance and reconstruction framework. OBJECTIVES: The organization’s main objectives are to improve local governance, stability and security through systematic and institutionalized engagement with customary structures, local communities, and civil society groups. It works to accomplish these objectives through programmatic activities in research/analysis, dialogue facilitation/peace building, access to justice and governance, humanitarian assistance, third party monitoring and evaluation of the project/programs, and natural resources management. The guidelines for these activities are strictly based on the “do-no harm” approach.
Provincial Focal Point will be working under the direct supervision of the Research Coordinator
Provinces to travel:
Duties & Responsibilities:
o Coordinating all activities with project management team in provinces and Kabul.
o Conducting and coordinating evidence-based advocacy training/seminars and provide mentorship sessions for IDPs and Returnee youth each month.
o Mapping of and finalizing analysis of key issues/challenges that IDPs and Returnees face in the area, district, provincial and national level.
o Facilitate meetings and gatherings between youth of IDPs and returnees with local government officials, including the head of Nahiya (district within the city) officials, municipality officials, local relevant directorates.
o Organizing radio program for IDPs and returnee with one of the leading local Radio in the province.
o Preparing weekly and monthly reports, as well as planning the upcoming week’s activities.
o Daily contact with IDPs and returnee youth.
o Mapping of key problems of IDPs and returnees’ problems.
o Completing requests for follow-up information, meetings with project staff and other related tasks as assigned by the project management in Provinces and Kabul.
o Completing of project-related administrative tasks as assigned by the project management team.
o Providing follow-up information, and completing other related tasks as specified by the project management team.
o Any other tasks assigned by Research Coordinator or Project Manager
Job Location:Afghanistan, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Herat
Minimum bachelor’s degree in social science (e.g. anthropology, sociology, political science, peace/conflict, international relations or development studies) or related discipline (e.g., media, law);
Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience.
Organizing public event work experience (Organizing Seminars and facilitate Meetings and gathering among different stakeholders) desirable.
Strong communication and writing skills in Pashto, Dari but Upper-intermediate skills in English, including ability to draft reports.
