Job Summary:

The Technical Network Specialist role is to plan and coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure the stable operation of the organization’s IT assets. This includes developing, configuration, maintaining, supporting APS’ network infrastructure.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/or external networks.

Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations.

Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan.

Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.

Possesses the ability to plan, document, and effectively implement projects and systems.

Participates in 24x7 on-call schedule.

Detects and manages any server abnormalities or inconsistencies.

Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.

Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, good put, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.

Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.

Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.

Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.

Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline

Master degree holders are preferred

Five years’ post-qualification experience in Network Administration

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Server Administrator working in Virtual environment.

LAN/WAN design, development, and installation

A proven ability to troubleshoot network and systems issues.

Familiar with Cisco, and other communications platforms

Network systems design and configurations knowledge

A detailed understanding of communication protocols

SAN and NAS technologies

Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.

Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.

Conducts testing of network design.

Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.

Relevant certifications i.e. CCNA, CCNP, CCIE (Preferred)

Windows Server 2012 or Higher, thorough understanding of computing and Data Centers.

Ability to provide support involving: ASA Firewall, Cisco Routers, Storage Provisioning, Performance Monitoring, Capacity Planning, Documentation.

Network Performance Tuning, Problem Solving, Strategic Planning, Multi-tasking, Quality Focus, Coordination, and Technical Understanding.
