About TURQUOISE MOUNTAIN:
Turquoise Mountain (TM) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization specializing in urban regeneration, business development, and education in traditional arts and architecture. It provides jobs, skills, and a renewed sense of national pride to Afghan women and men. Turquoise Mountain is registered as an NGO with the Government of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Economy. It is also a registered charity in the United Kingdom.
The teacher will be fully responsible to teach English and manage classes maintaining high academic standards. The duties will range from the preparation of course work, planning of classes and marking. He/she will also have to arrange any extracurricular activities, set targets for pupils, guarantee safety during lessons and report about all class-related activities to the Head of Department. The English teacher will have 10-15 students per class and will follow the current curriculum, integrate it and innovate it if needed in dialogue with the Chief Education Officer and the Acting Director of the Institute.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach English language according to the available TMI curriculum/
Focus on conversation skills with particular focus on the fields of arts, culture and crfts.
Plans lessons in line with targeted objectives to ensure that students learn.
Encourage, monitor and record the progress of his/her students.
Support, observe and record the progress of his/her class. Plan lessons in line with targeted objectives with the aim of ensuring a healthy culture of learning.
Keep up to date with developments in their subject area, new resources, methods and objectives. The instructor liaises and networks with other professionals, parents and careers both informally and formally.
Review the current Art History curriculum and /or develop the new curriculum if required.
Undertake pastoral duties, and support students on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties.
Prepare students for qualifications and external examinations.
Manage students’ behaviour in the classroom and on school premises, and apply appropriate and effective measures in case of misbehaviour.
Participate in departmental meetings and whole school training events.
Undertake regular on-job training as part of continuing professional development.
Other tasks given by TMI Acting Director or by line manager.
Job Location:Afghanistan, Kabul
BA in English Language and Literature or internationally accredited certification as teacher of English as a foreign language.
At least three years of teaching experience.
TOEFL or equivalent certification desirable.
Excellent communication and pedagogical skills.
Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to students and facilitate learning.
