We are looking for qualified candidates with an MBA OR business related degree and 7+ ACCA papers passed with at least 4 years of experience in the field of accounting or financial management. We seek people who are loyal, honest, hardworking, willing to learn, and competent in working with Afghan businesses to improve their financial systems.
This is a 6-month position, with a possible contract extension of up to an additional 12 months.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Project Manager is responsible to manage a team of professional finance and accounting staff as they provide mentorship to Afghan businesses to increase financial literacy. Specific responsibilities include:
1. Project Management
a. Manage all project activity on behalf of Quest, ensuring that all project objectives are met in a timely manner.
b. Help to recruit and hire qualified project staff.
c. Manage all project staff and maintain quality control.
d. Ensure that timely and appropriate reports are prepared and submitted:
i. Develop appropriate reporting templates
ii. Review, edit, and approve reports prepared by project staff.
iii. Write regular reports regarding the status of the project including action plans, challenges, accomplishments, performance against objectives, etc.
e. Act as the primary liaison between Quest and the client, managing all communications as required.
2. Technical Assistance
a. Regularly review and update curriculum and operations manual.
b. Prepare for and conduct regular training sessions with project staff.
c. Meet regularly with project staff and provide guidance on technical issues they need assistance with.
d. Visit Afghan business along with project staff and provide guidance on how to set up a proper accounting and finance system.
e. Ensure that project staff are meeting the below-mentioned objectives with the Afghan businesses they work with:
i. Have a bookkeeping system in place that tracks income and expenses, by sales channel and costs, by type and associated with the appropriate product, and staff trained to maintain it.
ii. Understand their cost of goods sold, allocating costs to the right product.
iii. Have staff capable of tracking accounts payable and receivable (including ageing), closing out books on a monthly basis, and making accurate tax office filings on time.
iv. Be capable of producing statements that improve the bankability of those businesses that need loans.
v. Have management capable of using financial information for planning and decision making, and for monitoring the performance of their own business plans.

Pashto: strongly preferred but not required
Strong working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word

Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of competing priorities and multiple deadlines
