About NATO Afghanistan - Resolute Support :
Resolute Support is a NATO-led, non-combat mission. It was launched on January 1, 2015, following the conclusion of the previous NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission, and the assumption of full security responsibility by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF). Its purpose is to help the Afghan security forces and institutions develop the capacity to defend Afghanistan and protect its citizens in a sustainable manner. The mission performs supporting functions in several areas. These include: operational planning; budgetary development; force generation process; management and development of personnel; logistical sustainment; and civilian oversight (in order to ensure the Afghan security forces and institutions act in accordance with the rule of law and good governance).
The incumbent interprets between English to Dari in support of the PSYOPS (Psychological Operations) train, advise and assist functions.

Ability to work well with civilian, military, and multi-national environment.
Efficient and well organized.
Already existing professional contacts are welcome. The incumbent will have contact with both representatives of the Afghan Government as well as with the Afghan population.
Success in training local journalists, public affairs representatives, GIRoA personnel and ANDSF will result in a sustainable transition of communications responsibilities to the Afghan government which will make communication sector independent and reliable over the long term.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists in training of local civilian hires working for magazine, GIRoA (Government Islamic Republic of Afghanistan) personnel involved in communication sector, Afghan National Security Defense Forces public affairs units, as well as local journalists.
Interprets from English to Dari/Pashto for the PRINT TRAINER and ILLUSTRATOR/LAYOUT TRAINER during training of GIRoA personnel from English to Dari/Pashto for the TV TRAINERS during training of GIRoA personnel.
Translates training materials from English to Dari/Pashto and vice versa.
Assists with logistics and organizing of training.
Maintains solid relationships with counter parts across RS (Resolute Support) environment, GIRoA and ANDSF.
At times performs as a print journalist/translator when needed.
Travels to remote training sites when requested to instruct GIRoA personnel with radio training and translates/interprets Dari/Pashto on behalf of the Print trainer and Illustrator/Layout Trainer and other international personnel as needed.
The incumbent may be required to use his/her voice to narrate PSYOPS TV and Radio spots.
The incumbent may be required to undertake TDY assignments as directed consistent with PSYOPS mission requirements.
The employee may be required to perform a similar range of duties elsewhere within the organisation at the same grade without there being any change to the contract.
The work is normally performed in a typical Office / Secure Facility environment. Slightly Undesirable
Job Location:Afghanistan, Kabul
Minimum 2 years’ of experience in broadcast journalism.
Ability to understand broadcast specific terminology and explain to the audience.
Basic experience of translating.
Basic experience in journalism training.
English: Good level of written and spoken language skills.
Dari: Good level of written and spoken language skills.
Pashtu: Good level of written and spoken language skills.
Note: The work both oral and written in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole is conducted mainly in English.
Broad and up-to-date knowledge of political, cultural, scientific and technical matters, especially as related to Afghanistan.
Contact base/solid working relationships with GIRoA representatives, CSO representatives and etc.
Ability to use office automation systems and especially tools for translations.
Experience in interpreting/translation.
High school degree.
