The Afghanistan Centre at Kabul University (ACKU) houses a large and unique collection of books, pamphlets, periodicals, maps, posters, educational flip-charts, video and audio material related to Afghanistanâ€™s history and struggle for independence. It collects information from a wide array of national and international sources about current activities in our country, all of which will be vital in providing reliable information to policy planners, program implementers, and future leaders, including faculty members and students at all Afghan universities. All pertinent facilities for internet research is available freely at the Centre for research related to Afghanistan. ACKU provides the most comprehensive collection of materials related to Afghanistan in the region. ACKU collects, stores, preserves, and shares information with a wide body of readers in both urban and rural settings so as to encourage the development of a qualitatively literate society capable of contributing to the growth of the nation. It also provides a congenial environment for interactions and interchange by Afghans, and international students and researchers, and policy makers. There are tremendous gaps in knowledge and understanding in Afghanistan today. ACKU exists to fill this gap and to build and strengthen the capacity and culture of research. A major programme of ACKU is the provision of mobile and similar libraries in areas outside Kabul through the ACKU Box Library Extension.
The ABLE Field assistant has responsibility for overall implementation and supervision of ABLE project in the field.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1.willing to travel around the country
2.Conduct surveys, data collection, identify suitable schools and community centers for establishing libraries in different locations inside country.
3.Project implementation, special focus on monitoring, being able to introduce and explain activities in the provinces covered by ABLE program
4.Regular supervision the status of libraries through the field visits from targeted schools and community centers.
5.Maintain a proper filing system concerning to the project activities.
6.Support in organizing events, i.e. meetings, orientations for the improvement and extensions of project.
7.focus on lesion with local government and communities authorities for surveying, implementation of project
8.Organize libraries before distributions and facilitate for delivery after making an agreement with selected partners School/ Community.
9.Maintain regular contact with school/ community libraries responsible, custodians and seek their ideas for the improvement of proper use of libraries.
10.Establish regular contacts between ABLE and itâ€™s implementing partners.
11.To undertake the other relevant assignments given by ACKU management
1.University degree is preferable.
2.Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively, both in spoken and written English
3.knowledge of computer and software MS office
4.Excellent time-management skills
5.Flexibility as the job requires
6.Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
