Job Summary:

The Accountant will perform pre-auditing of daily transactions in the ASI Finance office. Compliance of his/her duties will contribute to accountability and successful and timely payments in accordance with DAI policy and procedures

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Accountant will perform the following functions but not limited to:
•Perform financial reviews or pre-audit tasks on invoices, PRFs and RFPs for payment
•Verify that supporting documentation for payment requests are original, complete and correct
•Verify that amounts claimed for payment are well calculated, eligible, reasonable and allowable
•Track all expenditures made through office in a financial journal
•Serve as cashier for office
•Prepare the periodic petty cash expense report
•Perform the monthly cash count of the petty cash fund for submission to the finance management unit (FMU)
•Prepare the periodic revolving fund for tickets expense report for submission to the finance management Unit (FMU) as well as its monthly reconciliation
•Receive recording wire transfers received from the FMU and make payments to suppliers of services and/or goods
•Manage payroll distribution for office staff
•Other tasks as assigned by the Senior Finance Manager.

Job Requirement:

•University degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field preferable. Secondary school degree with extensive relevant experience can be substituted for university degree.

•Minimum of 5 years experience in an equivalent position. Experience working in a similar position for an NGO or an international organization is preferred. USAID funded project experience is a clear plus. Must have willingness to travel to DAI Afghanistan field offices on DAI business. Must also have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
