Duties & Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of AUPP’s Program Manager and Technical Advisor, the Advocacy Coordinator will be responsible for:
Overseeing the quality delivery of advocacy projects by CSOs.
Supporting CSOs to deliver their work plans, recommending corrective action when necessary.
Extending timely and effective support to CSOs on both technical and administrative aspects of their advocacy initiatives.
Facilitating capacity development for CSOs, including sourcing technical experts or directly delivering trainings.
Designing and implementing a suitable monitoring system for AUPP’s advocacy work, gathering reports from CSOs, and compiling and analyzing information for donor reports.
Supporting CSOs with financial management and reporting for UN-Habitat’s contract management unit.
Developing case studies and other visibility materials in partnership with CSOs for internal and external audiences.
Establishing and managing an online coordination platform for CSOs to regularly exchange information, progress and challenges.
Establishing and strengthening partnerships with relevant CSO networks nationally and internationally.
Undertaking missions to AUPP cities to assess delivery of activities and reporting progress to government and other partners.
Ensuring compliance with UN-Habitat procedures in all advocacy activities.
Mainstreaming cross-cutting issues of gender and human rights in advocacy projects.
Performing other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the program.
Job Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in political science, communications or related fields.
At least two years’ experience working in civil society.
Demonstrable success in implementing advocacy projects at local or national levels.
Familiarity with civil society networks and coalitions in Afghanistan.
Strong organizational, planning and leadership skills.
Excellent writing, communication and reporting skills.
Fluency in English and local languages.
