Agricultural Marketing Specialist
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
Recommends procedures and methods of operation in the process of marketing packed fruit and vegetables. Be able to teach/transfer to others his/her skills.
Provides technical guidance and direction for junior specialists; along with cooperative leaders, coordinates and directs the execution of approved policies to ensure a uniform and integrated order formulation program throughout the three provinces
Collects, or advises lower level specialist on the collection of, statistical and economic data necessary to make recommendations to hold hearings
Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes packing and marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems
Excellent communication skills: Talking to others to convey information effectively. Persuading others to change their minds or behavior. Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
Business practices and agricultural economics involved in the merchandising of inspected commodities in Parwan, Kabul, Kapisa and other domestic and foreign markets.
Marketing systems and operations in relation to agricultural commodities applied to fruits and vegetables, farmer’s market programs or electronic marketing systems.
Promotional marketing methods and techniques as related to the development and expansion of new or existing markets for agricultural commodities.
Agronomy and horticulture as applied to the production, processing, and distribution of fruits and vegetables.
Ability to review and analyze statistical data on commodity prices and other market factors in order to project trends and determine market prospects.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public and private officials and the general public in order to promote agricultural commodities.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, in order to summarize research and make promotional presentations.

Education, experience, and special requirements
Four years of post-high school education with an emphasis in marketing, economics, business administration, statistics agronomy, horticulture, or a closely related area and five years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in farm management, agricultural commodity brokerage, or in promotions or marketing cooperatives agricultural commodities or products; Master degree will be a plus.
Compensation: U$1,500 - $1,900 based on experience and skills.
