FHI 360 seeks to hire an Agriculture Math Specialist Consultant for a higher education project in Afghanistan. This individual will work under the supervision of the Agribusiness Program Manager to implement a range of activities related to course development of BS programs in agribusiness management at 5 targeted Afghan agricultural universities: Balkh, Kandahar, Khost, Kunduz and Nangarhar universities. The position is located in Kabul to support curriculum development. The course developer will work with agribusiness program manager to prepare/develop MATH for AGRICULTURE course topics based on pre-prepared course syllabus/course modules. The course developer will take into consideration of multiple variables such as course structure, students’ knowledge base, group activities, assignment to stimulate concept learning skills. The course developer will get council from agribusiness program manager on how to structure each course topic, what skills to include and what communicate tools to utilize. The math for agriculture course is going be thought in BS agribusiness management degree program. After the potential course is created, the course materials will be verified for its effectiveness and small group will test the course materials.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Specifically, the Consultant will support:
Assist with developing curriculum, course materials and making sure that each chapter or module pursue concept, application and examples.
Conduct a training based on developed course materials to Agriculture Team to test the course materials in Kabul, Afghanistan.
This individual will perform the following tasks;
Tasks No. 1:
- Maintain a course syllabus as a base for developing course materials
- Ensure that each chapter/module is revised and improved based on the recommendation of agribusiness program manager
Electronic file showing revised chapters/modules, lesson plans, and group activities
Chapter one completed and submitted for review to program manager.
Expected LOE (days) : 3
Expected Due Date: May 20, 2017
Task No. 2:
-Develop material, lesson plans, group activities for each chapter/module and making sure that course materials demonstrate concept, application and applied examples
Electronic file showing definition of each chapter’s objectives, relevant material, lesson plans, and group activities.
Module/chapter two developed and submitted to program manager for review.
Expected LOE (days) : 15
Expected Due Date: June 10,2017
-Define each chapter’s objectives and generate interesting approach to stimulate classroom participation
File showing definition of each chapter’s objectives, relevant material, lesson plans, and written summary of recommendation for stimulating a discussion. Third chapter developed and submitted for review.
Expected LOE (days) : 10
Expected Due Date: June 25, 2017
-Use recommended course materials and be innovative using various resources while developing course materials
- Use various methods and approaches in course materials to check for understanding, guided practices and course evaluation
File showing definition of each chapter’s objectives, relevant material, lesson plans, group activity, quiz and assignments
Written summary showing what innovative approaches are being recommended
Electronic file with guided practices and course evaluation templates or examples that can be used in the future
Fourth and Fifth modules developed.
First Draft of the entire course developed and submitted to program manager for review.

Expected Due Date: July 10,2017
Developers should have the following experiences and abilities:
1. MS degree in mathematics, statistics, accounting, business management, engineering or another related field
2. Strong background and skills in teaching arithmetic, algebra and geometry at undergraduate level
3. The course developer should have analytical skills and possess creative and intuitive problem-solving ability
4. Ability to communicate ideas and concepts clearly and accurately
5. Have possess outstanding writing and editing skills in English and Pashto/Dari
6. Positive, flexible attitude
7. Familiarity with Afghan agriculture
8. Fluency in English, Dari, and Pashto
