Job Summary:

Agriculture Trainer

Duties & Responsibilities:

•Participate in needs assessment and training design, while offering quality agricultural training to the client agricultural students. The agricultural training should illustrate a competent approach to support community agricultural priorities which have been identified by the client, CDC representatives and/or student farmers.
•Participate in the conducting of needs assessment surveys in provinces as directed by the Director of Agriculture, Deputy Agriculture Training Co-ordinator and/or the Country Director;
•Attend Training of The Trainers (TOT) on project management as directed by senior management;
•Provide input into the development of agriculture-extension training that included curriculum design, the creation of instructional manuals on technical topics (horticulture, fruits irrigation, forestry and livestock) as well as topics related to community-relationship building and working effectively with Community Development Councils;
•Support interactions with provincial MAIL directorates, to incorporate feedback and input in project design and implementation;
•Assist in identifying suitable training premises as well as cost-effective accommodation for training participants;
•Train Agricultural Shura Members in various provinces, as determined by the project needs (if applicable);
•Train MAIL extension workers in various provinces, as determined by the project needs (if applicable);
•Monitor participation of the students in the training programs. The provincial trainer will maintain a participant time-sheet signed by each participant daily. Time sheets will be in the form of a spreadsheet and include 1) Name 2) Father’s Name 3) Sex 4) Age 5) Date of Training. Copies of signed participant time-sheets will be reviewed and signed by the trainers and submitted to FIA agriculture department as required by the project needs;
•Provide on-site assistance and monitoring to agricultural students during the implementation of the practical demonstration components that are part of the training program;
•Oversee the hiring of a vehicle, to be used in the province and ensure that a log book of driving activities is kept throughout the project;
•Prepare progress reports on a timely basis (as directed by the FIA Agriculture Department), which highlights the activities performed during the prescribed period). These reports should include financial expenditure records, which were incurred during that period. Progress reports should include photographs of activities and any other documentation illustrating activities performed during the period. Narrative reports will be submitted to the FIA Director of Agriculture and financial reports shall be submitted to the FIA HQ Finance Department;
•Participate in the evaluation of the project training programs and provide comprehensive written reports for FIA;
•Organize and co-ordinate meetings with all provincial and district stakeholders and ensure that support letters are submitted (if applicable);
•Any and all other duties as directed by the FIA Director of Agriculture and/or the Country Director;

Job Requirement:

- University Graduate - Agriculture Faculty
- Fluency in verbal and written Pashto, Dari and English
- Minimum of two (4) years work experience in Field of Agriculture
- Motivated, hardworking, creative innovative and a strong team player; and
- Able to meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality outputs.
