About Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and livestock (MAIL):
The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock is a key ministry of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan that aims to develop the agriculture, irrigation and livestock of the rural and urban communities. The Ministry is expected to lay the foundations for a long-term strengthening of local agriculture, to promote governance, to rebuild social capital and leadership within villages and neighborhoods, and to provide assistance for rehabilitation and development to communities
The capacity building of its departmental staff and also other national staff in various fields is another major task of this institute in the field of production technologies of vegetables, horticultural crops, commercial crops, cereal crops, legume crops etc. The capacity building is being carried out through short in-country training's and also international training's. To organize such training, there is a need of training organizer at ARIA. The training organizer will facilitate the conduction of such training's for ARIA and other organizations at ARIA head office.
Duties & Responsibilities:
In close collaboration with the Agricultural Research Institute of Afghanistan and regional research stations, agricultural research staff of ARIA:
Strategic organization of national training programs for the capacity development of ARIA staff which is dealing in agronomy, crop improvement and plant pathology research program.
Strengthening of ongoing wheat research activities though coaching, mentoring and on the job training course in the departments of cereal crop improvement, agronomy, plant protection, dry land, irrigation, farm machinery, and planning etc.
Strengthening of the ongoing wheat breeder seed production activities at regional research stations.
Provide guidance and advice on issues related to Infrastructure development especially land development of the regional research stations.
Train and coach national counterparts in field crops breeding, agronomic and plant pathology experiments, data analysis, and documentation etc.
Assist in making appropriate trial designs for variety yield testing under location specific and general conditions, G x E interactions and other relevant scientific experiments;
Coordinate with different stakeholders to organize various short term technical training's.
Day to day discussion on professional and scientific issues with scientific staff working at ARIA.
Assist ARIA departments for data collection, analysis and interpretation.
Any other task we which are given by organization.
Bachelor degree in Agriculture with relevant experience and specialization in production technologies.
At least 5 years’ experience in the agronomy research and crop improvement, data collection, analysis, interpretation of results in field crops relevant to Afghanistan
Familiarity with the agricultural production and an understanding of field problems, particularly as it relates to seed production, crop production and plant protection practices.
Relevant experience in the field of capacity development and organization of short term trainings.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government officials, international donor agencies, technical field staff, NGO’s representatives; etc;
Fluently speaking and written of national language and English
