Area Manager
The Area Manager under the direct supervision of the Chief of Operations through the Senior Operations Manager (MACCA) is responsible for the following assigned tasks:
• Plans, coordinates and manages the Mine Action Program operations within the allocated region including Mine Awareness, Minefield survey and mine clearance by:
• Planning, coordinating and managing the Mine Action Program operations within the region including Technical Survey, Clearance, EOD activities and Mine Risk Education
• Representing MACCA at regional level
• Monitoring the mine action operations in the field through regular field visits, ensuring the technical quality of the demining activities and teams productivities are maintained and demining operations are carried out by IPs safely, effectively and efficiently
• Liaising with UN agencies, Governmental departments and NGOs within the region to obtain accurate picture of mine action needs
• Conducting frequent data evaluation and analysis to ensure mine action operations are carried out effectively and efficiently at regional level
• Prepares briefing documents for meetings.
• Ensures that all districts are visited and liaises with authorities on priorities and Mine Action needs.
• Reviews all operations reports from the NGOs for accuracy of calculations produced (weekly, monthly, completion, suspension, etc).
• Controls and coordinates the manning of the AMAC and Area communications.
• Assists the Chief of Operations with preparing the required mine action reports at regional level.
• Ensures that the Area Office maintains and updates records on project Petty Cash and imprest account, including Bank accounts names and numbers, authorized certifying officers.
• Coordinates with Chief of Administration, Finance and Logistics in the central MACCA on all issues relating to imprest operation, performance and replenishment.
• Performs any other duties tasked by the MACCA Chief of Operations
• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, Engineering, human resource management, project management or other related fields; or Secondary Diploma with 2 years of additional relevant work experience maybe considered.
• At least 5 years progressively responsible experience in managing mine action related activities in humanitarian programs.
• Knowledge of de-mining and explosive ordnance equipment (MDD and mechanical experience highly desirable).
• Leadership qualities.
• Self-reliant and able to work independently and to a deadline.
• Must be computer literate.
• Experience working with mine information database is highly desirable.
• Resourcefulness, initiative, Maturity and good judgment.
• Fluent in English and local languages, Pashto, Dari, all oral and written
