The Assistant Director of Admissions will identify and recruit a diverse student body each semester. The person selected for this key role will: 1) cultivate and provide leadership on graduate and undergraduate enrollment management; 2) develop enrollment management priorities; and 3) refine the university’s enrollment management plan with the vision and strategies necessary for successful student recruitment. The Assistant Director will work closely with various departments, faculty, and staff to develop and implement policies and services that will help build university enrollment. The Assistant Director must ensure that all Admissions Office activities are effectively planned and that they function throughout the year.
The Assistant Director of Admission’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop, lead, and implement innovative strategies to identify and attract a diverse application pool;
Oversee the entire admissions process, working autonomously as well as in the role of team member;
Demonstrate the ability to collaborate toward a common goal with faculty, staff, applicants, potential donors, educational institutions, and other stakeholders;
Manage recruitment for US Embassy and USAID scholarships;
Advise and assist in executing AUAF’s marketing strategy nationwide;
Organize on-campus, off-campus, and virtual recruiting events;
Represent AUAF at events, including developing and facilitating presentations for a wide range of groups, including donors, prospects, and parents/guardians, while explaining educational programs, expected outcomes, students life, and financial consideration to students;
Counsel prospective students about AUAF’s degree offerings and the admissions process;
Serve as liaison between AUAF Admissions and all other departments;
Supervise and assist Admissions staff with overall recruitment activities as well as data collection and problem-solving;
Participate in appropriate recruitment and enrollment activities, including open houses, orientation programs, and educational expos;
Travel throughout Afghanistan (where security permits) to outreach and recruit students;
Oversee admission testing processes in Kabul and regionally;
Evaluate applications for admission on a periodic basis; and
Take on other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.

The position requires the incumbent to reside in Afghanistan
At least a bachelor's degree and/or relevant training in the areas of education, student services, and marketing
A minimum of four years responsible experience in the relevant areas
Understand the principles of strategic enrollment management
Possess excellent computer and data analysis skills
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
Be able to travel throughout the country
Be highly collaborative and attuned to cultural differences and sensitivities
English language proficiency in writing, reading, and speaking
Dari and Pashto languages proficiency in speaking and reading
Strong computer skills
Ability to multi-task, under pressure, with excellent organizational skills
Comfortable working independently, with strong problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skills
Trustworthy, with a good understanding in handling sensitive materials and information
