The WET Centre Water Quality Assistant Lab Technician is responsible for operations of the Water Quality Testing Laboratory.
· Performs water sampling and testing at field level and centre and analyze and document the results.
· Implement water quality testing laboratory Standard Operating Procedures and practices.
· Ensures adherence to established WET Centre standards.
· Informs timely the Senior Lab Technician for all laboratory equipment and supplies required.
· Supports the Senior Lab technician in timely procurement of all testing equipment and supplies
· Assist in preparation and updating of the Standard Operating Procedures for all laboratory activities.
· Contributes in identification of shortcomings in water quality testing in order to customize testing programs and procedures to suit the standards and requirements
· Assists in delivery of Water Quality training workshops.
· Assist the Senior Lab Technician in development of the laboratory budget.
· Assists in water awareness programs for IDPs, refugees, school children, women’s groups, communities, local government and NGOs when required.
· Supports action research on demonstration projects in order to evaluate and recommend best practices for design and implementation of projects.
Any other tasks directed by the Senior Lab technician
Education/ Qualification and Employment Benefits
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Chemistry or relevant discipline (sciences or health) and/or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience:
One (1) years experience in laboratory or field based water quality testing, or related laboratory experience in health sector, sciences, and food or water industry.

· Possesses a careful, methodical approach to their work and is attentive to the details.
· Familiar with common field-based water quality testing; microbiological, chemical, and physical test equipment.

· Imaginative and innovative in approaches to training, communication and capacity building.
· Able to quickly establish credibility with clients, stakeholders, workshop participants, and potential donors.
· Principled and ethical with a passion for empowerment and a desire to make a difference.
· Must be familiar with usage of Windows-based computer programs (WORD, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT), internet search and e-mail.
Languages: Oral and written fluency in(English, Dari, Pashto)
